Made a promising start to his career winning on his debut at Yarmouth quickening clear in good style and although he failed to follow-up that win there was still plenty to like about his Sandown defeat. Beaten by another useful sort there and still of interest.

Ran well on his debut (yard not noted for newcomers) when winning at Salisbury over 7f on soft. That form hasn't been tested yet (looked fairly modest) but has a speedy pedigree and this surface may suit him switched to the AW.

Has shown only modest form so far and failed to come on for his debut in an AW claimer going with little fluency. Likely to be outclassed in this.

Yard not exactly known for their winning debutantes although this one has a reasonable pedigree being a half-brother to a 6f winner and useful juvenile in Rajar; dam was also a 5f winner. Despite all of that best watched on debut; hooded for debut.

On pedigree it looks as though even further will suit given that there is a fair bit if stamina on the dams side. May well need this first outing and others preferred unless the market says otherwise.
Slightly strange to see him back at 7f having looked as though he needed all the mile at Brighton last time battling on well to almost see of all-comers. No doubt that he has some of the best form on offer if he can cope with drop to 7f.

Showed some ability on his debut despite looking inexperienced and showing that handicaps later on will be more his bag. Failed to progress last time out (still looked green) and may need even more experience.

Well supported on his debut in the AW at Kempton where he looked to have a fairly hard race for a newcomer. That may have told on his second outing when dropped back a furlong at the same course and he'll need to show more here.
Ran to a fair level on his debut over 7f at Chelmsford went starting at 33/1 and is entitled to come on for that run and improvement is likely. That progress may come over further though and in a few runs times; market to provide some clues.

Half-brother to a winner at up to 2m with stamina on the dams side of the pedigree. Yard have only had one juvenile winner all year and have been fairly quiet and this one looks to need some time and a trip.

Didn't really reap the benefit of a considerate introduction (finished nicely under a hands-and-heels ride) when failing show anything more on his second run. May well bounce back on his first AW start but more is needed to take a hand.

Interesting newcomer from a yard that already have 48m juvenile winners on the board at a cracking 37% strike-rate with plenty of first time scorers. This one cost 200,000 gns and well related and has a big chance on debut.

Forecasts

Il Primo Sole (13/8), Statehood (5/1), Dukeofwallingford (6/1), N Over J (13/2), On The Warpath (10/1), Jeopardy John (12/1), Metkaif (14/1), Brigham Young (16/1), Sheriff (25/1), Barnay (25/1), Purple Jazz (33/1), Archibald Leitch (33/1)

Verdict

Despite the numbers there isn’t an enormous amount of strength in depth here with quite a few having had promising debuts before disappointing on their second starts. IL PRIMO SOLE sets the standard here having won on his debut and despite suffering a defeat last time it may well have been at the hands of a useful sort. He needs to settle a little better but should be hard to beat if reproducing his initial run. Statehood is the unknown quantity here having not raced so far but from a yard who know how to get one ready and he’s respected. Duke Of Wallingford has turned in two solid runs so far and has a chance here although staying nurseries may see him in a better light. No Over J will find this a bigger test than his winning run at Salisbury while there is always a chance that Metkaif and Sheriff will return to their debut form where they showed promise.
  1. Il Primo Sole
  2. Statehood
  3. Dukeofwallingford
