Finally off the mark over fences last time out and has been raised 8lb as a result. Not the most progressive but has been running to a consistently high level recently and should be thereabouts once again.

0/6 over hurdles (in both maidens and handicaps), and needs to show plenty of improvement for the switch to fences and the first time addition of blinkers.

Yet to win off a mark this high but has run creditably while on a similar rating in the past. Conditions should suit and provided his jumping doesn't let him down he should be thereabouts.

Best performances all came in 2016, slightly disappointing as a handicap hurdler but entitled to improve on his first start back and his first run over fences.

Makes his debut over fences here having failed to revive his flagging hurdles form on stable debut last time out. Could be favourably treated if taking to the larger obstacles as a relatively inexperienced horse.

It may have been a mistake at one of the fences that was to blame for him being pulled up last time, but he remains on that career-high mark now and needs to put that last performance behind him.

Forecasts

Copperfacejack (11/8), Charlie Mon (9/2), Limoncello (5/1), Culm Counsellor (11/2), That's Gonna Sting (6/1), Clay Allison (16/1)

Verdict

Copperfacejack holds obvious claims having gotten off the mark at Towcester last time out but won't find things entirely straightforward up 8lb and preference is for CHARLIE MON. Mike Hammond's charge is yet to win off a mark this high but has run some nice races off similar ratings in the past and should be better for a short break he has been given since winning at Newton Abbot at the back end of August. Clay Allison may be a threat if improving for the switch to fences.
  1. Charlie Mon
  2. Copperfacejack
  3. Clay Allison
