Came good at the second attempt over 7f here last time (good to firm) and did so readily by 3½L. Penalised as a result, but with any natural improvement he will be tough to beat.

Beaten 13½L on debut at Goodwood (1m2f, soft) last month and now drops back in trip and races on a sound surface. May well do better for that, but it takes some leap of faith to see him being good enough to win today.

In the frame on three of his five starts, including when stepped up to 7f at Epsom (heavy) last time. Conditions quicker here and his form so far suggests that it may not suit as well as softer ground, while he has it to prove at this trip.
66-1 on debut at Lingfield (7f, AW) and although he was beaten 9L, he did manage to finish ahead of everything except the winner. Should be able to improve on that and likely to need to if he is to make the frame again.

Was beaten just 1L on debut over C&D (good to soft) in August and bettered that over 7f at Epsom (good) last time. Looks set to put up another good performance and should again be thereabouts.

20-1 and made a pleasing debut at Bellewstown (1m, good) in July, being beaten just 2L. Has since changed hands for £23,000 and makes his British/stable debut here. Any improvement would give him a chance of finishing in the money.

Has put in three similar efforts in maidens, all over 1m and on good to soft, being comfortably held each time. Allotted a mark of 74, connections have decided to swerve a nursery and come here, though he still has a few pounds to find.

Well held on both starts so far at Leicester and Pontefract in similar contests. Already shaping as though he will make more appeal as a handicapper and it will be a surprise if he improves enough to win today.
Sent off at 16-1 and was beaten 10½L in a similar race over 1m (AW) at Lingfield last month. That didn't offer much in the way of hope that she would be capable of winning this time around and she could make more appeal with a handicap mark.

50-1 but plenty of encouragement on her debut at Nottingham (good to soft) earlier in the month, when she was beaten less than 4L over a similar trip. If she can improve on that then she should be in the mix today.

Forecasts

George (3/1), Wilson (3/1), King Of The Sand (4/1), Sherzy Boy (6/1), Royal Goldie (7/1), Key Player (8/1), Qadiriyyah (33/1), Clan Mcgregor (50/1), Folies Bergeres (66/1), The Fiddler (80/1)

Verdict

KING OF THE SAND looks to be going the right way and trip and ground appear to be ideal for him to build on the promise of his first two runs and strike this time. Wilson is very much respected despite his penalty, while Qadiriyyah is an interesting participant and a big performance from both he and Royal Goldie would not surprise.
  1. King Of The Sand
  2. Wilson
  3. Royal Goldie
