Several creditable efforts in handicaps this season, including when 3 lengths fifth of 10 to Lady Perignon at Epsom last time. That effort came over inadequate trip, and not dismissed now stepped up in distance.

So Celebre28

Winner over hurdles at Ascot in April, and best effort on flat since when sixth of 10 at Sandown last month. Needs to show he can build on that, but feasibly handicapped, and one to bear in mind.

Consistent sort in general, so easy to forgive rare poor run on heavy ground at Ffos Las recently. Sole previous success came over 1m3f here, and claims if back to his best now.

Game winner on polytrack at Lingfield (1¼m) in April, but below form since following start, and not easy to fancy for all she may have needed the run after a break at Sandown last time.

Sula Island37

Best effort in maidens when fifth over this trip at Lingfield (turf) on debut, but caught the eye when second there last time, and type to progress now handicapping, so shortlisted for in-form yard.

Foresee35

33/1
Winner of a maiden at Maisons-Laffitte last year for Andre Fabre, but hasn't cut much ice for current yard in this sphere or over hurdles. Latest effort was a shocker, and easy to swerve once more.

Mullarkey64

Started the season well, building on earlier efforts when winning at Nottingham in May. Below form subsequently, but on a fair mark, and has been gelded since last seen. No surprise to see him bounce back.

Looked as though her Leicester win in July might prove a breakthrough but she's failed to make any progress and continues to find life tough in handicaps, albeit not seen to best effect on testing ground last twice.

Still a maiden, but in frame all starts this season until failing to fire in first-time blinkers at Windsor last month. Headgear dispensed with now, and may yet progress given lightly-raced profile, so not one to write off.

Standout effort this season when winning 1½m handicap at Thirsk in July. Better than result when mid-field at Wolverhampton last time, however, and may offer some value now dropped back to winning mark.

Broad Appeal39
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Ryan Tate| T: J G Portman| OR:  68| C
12/1
Hasn't progressed since winning 1m maiden here on debut in February despite being tried in different headgear. Went backwards from previous effort at Windsor on latest start, and risky despite return to favoured venue.

Forecasts

So Celebre (5/2), Prosecution (4/1), Pastoral Music (11/2), Mullarkey (9/1), Sula Island (10/1), Bridge Of Sighs (12/1), Broad Appeal (12/1), Amelia Dream (12/1), Hayward Field (16/1), Rum Swizzle (25/1), Foresee (33/1)

Verdict

Robert Winston got a good tune out of the quirky Chough here earlier in the week, and he's taken to repeat the dose on the same stable's Prosecution, who has caught the eye a few times without winning. Sula Island is another likely improver on handicap debut, while Mullarkey has been gelded since last seen, and is the type to bounce back to form after a break.
  1. Prosecution
  2. Sula Island
  3. Mullarkey
