Originally cost 230,000 gns before leaving Roger Charlton's yard for 16,000 gns. Lost a shoe when a commendable third on debut for new yard. Not too highly tried here but may need this first run in four months.
The ability is clearly there but he looks the type who needs to be delivered at the last possible moment. Hit the front too soon here a fortnight ago and allowed a Godolphin favourite to outbattle him. Cheekpieces now go on.
Sister to Convey and half-sister to several other winners including Stronghold and Hanseatic. With that bloodline connections will be looking for a win before the end of the year. One to note in the ring.
€75,000 daughter of Derby winner Pour Moi and closely related to two middle-distance winners. Trip looks on the sharp side and yard's runners improve for a run.
Has improved with racing and since stepping up in trip. Ran into a smart recruit in a race run too slowly for her at Lingfield two weeks ago. Still had Valley Of Light behind as well as a couple of 70+ rated horses. Rider 5-7 for the yard here.
Dam Listed-placed 1m winner and is related to a number of useful sprinters. Sire was runner-up in Kentucky Derby but gets few winners over his trip. On the plus side the rider is an impressive 19-62 for the yard.
400,000 gns purchase as a foal by Dubawi out of a US dirt winner. Missed the break on Lingfield debut when finishing 4l behind Pretty Passe. Should be happier around here and hopefully learnt plenty from that experience.
Forecasts
Footman (7/4), Valley Of Light (9/4), Pretty Passe (5/2), Choose (8/1), Spinning Melody (12/1), Abaad (33/1), Kerre (50/1)
PRETTY PASSE is hardly an inspiring choice but she ticks most of the boxes for this with the only question marks surrounding who will ensure a good pace and the quality of the newcomers. Choose looks the pick of the debutantes judged on pedigree. Spinning Melody may need shorter but still warrants a market check. Valley Of Light can only improve but has a lot to find with the selection. Footman has proved exasperating lately but cheekpieces may prove the answer if delivered at the right moment.
