Has always looked a quirky sort who underlined a good spell of form with a Doncaster win over this trip in the summer. Last two runs haven't been quite up to that level but equally he's shaped better than the bare result; one to consider.

Best when fresh (has won twice on seasonal reappearance) she's failed to show anything like her winning form earlier in the year apart from when given another break. Well below her best recently and returns relatively quickly again and passed over now.

Having his first Flat start for about a year although has been in action over hurdles in the interim. Last Flat win came back in 2015 and for the most part he looked out of sorts in this sphere last year but the yard are in good form of late.

Still yet to break his maiden on the Flat (0/9) he did run a better race at Yarmouth last time over 2f further in cheekpieces for the first time. Makes his first start for this yard with blinkers going on for the first time and a market check advised.

Generally runs well here although his losing run now stretches back to October 2015 when won over C&D off a 10lb higher mark. Had three goes here this year recording figures of 224 (highly tried last time); this is more his grade.

Came here last time in this headgear combination and ran with credit over 2f further finishing second to a thriving and front running individual who has won twice since. Looked a bit one paced there so hard to say that this reduction in trip will help.

Was one who caught the eye on his penultimate start at Ripon despite finishing in rear (hinted at much better). Not fancied at all here last time out over further and ran poorly on soft ground and it may be best to wait for a market positive with this one.

Off the mark at the first attempt for this yard (they do well with new recruits) and she eventually found enough improvement to score off a mark in the low 60s over 1m4f at Thirsk. Handicapper may now have her in his grasp though of a mark of 67.

A step up in trip and various headgear has to a certain extent pepped her up but she's still operating below her best form. Failed to see her race out last time over 1m6f and this trip at least should suit better with the visor on again.

Verdict

The form that First Quest showed here last time out obviously reads very well in the light of the subsequent exploits of the winner although this shorter trip may not be ideal for him. The New Pharaoh shaped well last time and probably didn’t get the run of the race but he can be a little quirky. Sellingallthetime generally runs well enough here but his losing run continues to grow and a place may be the best he can hope for while the visored first time Burning Heat running for a new yard should be watched. A chance is taken though with JACKHAMMER who is now down to a mark that he ought to be competitive off and makes his debut for a yard who have done well with this type and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some money for him.
