Kicked off this season with a good victory at Ascot and although he has not won since, he has performed with credit in some competitive handicaps. Will handle the ground, but has to prove he is effective over the extra distance of this contest.

Landed this contest a year ago and is only 2lb higher. Recent form not particularly encouraging and has something to prove for the time being.

Only win in 13 starts came at this track over 1m in September, 2015. Last two runs have been respectable, but the handicapper is taking his time to give him a clear chance and others make more appeal.

Won a 1m4f handicap at this course in September, last year. Stays this trip and acts on soft ground, so could be in the mix if responding positively to first-time cheekpieces.

Useful hurdler who is a rare contender on the Flat for his leading jumps trainer. Won over C&D on this type of ground two starts ago and is a player off 4lb higher.

Won four times on the bounce in 2014, but has not been successful on the Flat since. Did get his head in front over hurdles a couple of starts ago and enters calculations on this return to the Flat off a fair mark.

Ran well to be second to Moabit over C&D three starts ago. Not so good on the AW last time, but handles this sort of ground and has prospects if the first-time cheekpieces work their magic.

Forecasts

Moabit (9/5), Lustrous Light (7/2), Gawdawpalin (9/2), Champagne Champ (5/1), Waterville Dancer (11/2), Paris Protocol (6/1), Rydan (9/1), Treasure The Ridge (33/1)

Verdict

There should not be too much between Moabit and Waterville Dancer on their form over C&D and both are respected. Rydan has the ability to get involved if cheekpieces prove a positive influence, while Gawdawpalin has claims if staying the trip. However, top weight LUSTROUS LIGHT looks the one to be on. following his good run over C&D last time and his decent record in good handicaps this season.
  1. Lustrous Light
  2. Moabit
  3. Waterville Dancer
