Won over C&D last time out has a proven liking for this course. Just 3lb higher but never one to rely upon to run two races the same and remains to be seen how many more times the tongue tie and visor combination will be effective.

Not seen since finishing last at Newmarket in July. Possible that run came about too quickly after a busy spell and may have more to offer now freshened up by a break. Handles this course well, so no forlorn hope.

Some decent form to his name under both codes but has done most of his AW racing at Southwell so far (finished last of six on his only previous start here). Not especially well treated just now and still 4lb higher than last winning mark.

Course debutante but comes into this with some fair efforts to his name. Yard form and jockey booking obvious pluses but best when able to make the running and may struggle to get handy from his stall position.

Hard to fancy as he's on a long losing run and is easily opposable now dropped significantly in trip.

Veteran of 101 previous races and very safe to say his best days are behind him. Well adrift of Banish here last time and hard to see the old boy reversing the form.

Drops in trip but the form of his latest start has already been boosted and this lightly raced gelding sets a bit of conundrum from a handicapping perspective. The colt's breeding is impeccable and he's very hard to ignore in such modest company.

Seems to have hit the buffers of late and needs to dramatically improve for the return to racing on a polytrack surface. First-time cheekpieces look more of an experiment than a certain aid.

In great heart under both codes and highly respected after making a winning debut on the Flat at Leicester in September. A mark of 79 is reasonable but he needs to up his game if he's going to make all the running in this slightly better company.

Steadily running into form for his new yard but lacked a change of gear at Chepstow latest and would need a grinding pace to be set for him to be seen at his best.

Has gone well here in thew past and interesting with the visor back in place. Also potentially well handicapped from 4lb below his last winning mark, so must have a good chance of making the frame if the switch to the AW rekindles his interest.

Gets 1m2f well but that has appeared to be the absolute limit of his stamina so far. Makes his course debut also, so may be best watched on this occasion.

Winner of a C&D maiden in January but form in handicaps has been pretty average since then. Well held behind Banish last week and no real reason to suspect he can turn the tables on the revised terms.

Best held up but can race freely and often spoils his chance as a result. Won well at Salisbury on his penultimate start but reverted to type at Sandown latest. Up in trip and the cheekpieces need to considerably sharpen his concentration.

Forecasts

Golden Birthday (7/4), Mobbhij (7/2), Banish (5/1), St Malo (7/1), Fleeting Visit (10/1), Faithful Creek (14/1), Fair Power (16/1), Captain Peacock (20/1), Sennockian Star (25/1), Murgan (25/1), Panko (50/1), Viking Hoard (50/1), Belabour (66/1), Samtu (66/1)

Verdict

There should be more to come from MOBBHIJ, who drops in trip for only his third start but is likely to get the strong pace he needs. Golden Birthday is also going the right way now he's tried on the Flat and he can certainly ensure the rest have to up their game if he runs his usual race. Banish holds a few of these and should again be thereabouts. He's never won two races back-to-back though, and a bigger danger may be posed by St Malo, who returns at a reasonable level after sitting things out for most of the latter part of the summer.
  1. Mobbhij
  2. Golden Birthday
  3. St Malo
