Very easy winner of a 1m5½f handicap here last time, doing so by 7L and suggesting that she would be just as effective over further. Gets her chance to show that under a 6lb penalty today and likely to be tough to topple.

Thorough stayer who scored by a heavily eased 3¾L at Lingfield (2m) last time. Penalised for that today, but his trainer has been so good with this type of horse over the years that there should be a fair bit more to come from him.

Yet to get competitive in five starts, the last two in handicaps over 1m4f and 1m6f. Steps up again in trip as well as dropping 2lb in the handicap, but still has to plenty to prove.

Yet to break his duck, but has put in some respectable efforts in defeat, including when runner-up at Brighton (1m4f, good to soft) last month from 2lb lower. Step up in trip not certain to suit, however, while a nudge up the weights also negative.

Has shown moderate form so far in handicap company, including when well held from this grade when making the frame at Yarmouth (1m3½f) last time. There is a bit of stamina in her pedigree, but she has it to prove on the track for the moment.

Has 7½L to find with Snowy Winter on their running here last time over 1m5½f and a 6lb turnaround at the weights looks unlikely to bridge that gap. Step up in trip may help, but still has stamina to prove.

Inconsistent profile so far, but went the closest he has come to winning when a ½L third at Kempton (2m) last time from today's mark. That was as good as he has produced and if he can repeat it then he won't be far away again.

Her best run so far was in December at Newcastle, when a 1½L runner-up in a 1m handicap. Not at her best on either run here since then, nor when stepped up to 1m6f at Wolverhampton in-between, so plenty to prove despite a 4lb drop in the weights.

Best efforts so far have been with cut in the ground on turf, where she has suggested that she will get this trip. However, 2lb drop going into this doesn't not look sufficient to see her winning it, but she may have a an each-way squeak.

Beaten a long way in all four starts so far, including from this basement mark on his handicap debut at Bath last time. Can't rule out some improvement, but unlikely to find sufficient to be winning this, while there are also stamina doubts.

Very poor form so far and well held in all starts, including from this mark in four handicaps. Huge step up in trip today and hood also added, but that looks to be more in hope than expectation.

Has finished behind everything else in all three runs in maidens and a seller last time out at Chepstow and looks to be well out of his depth in this field. Impossible to recommend.

Forecasts

Alternate Route (5/4), Snowy Winter (9/4), Black Prince (6/1), Mr Davies (10/1), Indian Red (12/1), Fortia (14/1), Broughtons Admiral (20/1), Legalized (33/1), Lulu The Rocket (50/1), Jump Around (66/1), Street Jester (100/1), Myhorsewithnoname (100/1)

Verdict

It is always slightly nerve wracking taking on a Sir Mark Prescott-trained runner in this sort of race, but despite his Alternate Route winning well last time over this trip, the suggestion is to oppose him with the even more impressive last-time course winner SNOWY WINTER, who should be able to take this step up in trip in her stride. Black Prince and Legalized also look capable of having a say.
  1. Snowy Winter
  2. Alternate Route
  3. Black Prince
