1-16 record and best efforts have come over further than this. Went well on this surface at Kempton (1m4f) in July but has not progressed and now 12lb lower in the weights. Sole win came on only start in this grade.
Three victories in 2017 take his career tally to 17. Last win achieved in better grade off a 5lb lower mark and has gone well from this revised rating since.
Has not had much AW racing but produced the pick of those efforts at Wolverhampton in August. Went well on ground softer than ideal at Doncaster three weeks ago and drops to a grade which has brought two of his three successes.
Made all to land a minor race for Hugo Palmer here in February when she kept pulling out extra when required. Not as good subsequently until noted putting in some good late work at Thirsk last month and she has solid claims here off the same mark.
Sole AW success came at Chelmsford and beat The Happy Hammer at Yarmouth in June. Mark demands some improvement but interesting to see Andrea Atzeni booked for the first time since that success.
After two woeful performances she is switched to a faster surface and dropped in trip. Claims on her earlier efforts if the trainer has called this correctly.
Winner of four AW races, the latest being a Chelmsford claimer in May. Best run since came when hitting the front too soon at Salisbury on penultimate start. Chance from this mark with Shifting Star likely to set the pace he needs.
Yet to prove her effectiveness on an AW surface and tackles this trip for the first time. Handicapper has given her a chance if she copes with those challenges and she is related to middle-distance AW winners.
Seems a better horse when able to dictate and/or when Jim Crowley is on board. Last victory came off 6lb lower and he is currently paying the price for two good runs behind Swilly Sunset in July. Has a lot to overcome in order to take this.
Has dropped 8lb since his last victory 18 months ago. Well beaten on his last two starts, most recently having reared as the stalls opened. Showed he retains ability when runner-up at Yarmouth in June and that kind of effort would be good enough.
Forecasts
Dreaming Time (3/1), Paradwys (5/1), Character Onesie (5/1), Top Beak (11/2), Passing Star (6/1), Beyond Recall (13/2), Himalayan Queen (12/1), Shifting Star (33/1), Carcharias (33/1), The Happy Hammer (66/1)
Most of these have questions to answer and nothing stands out as being particularly well-handicapped. Dreaming Time has to be taken seriously off this mark if her latest run is indicative and the rider has a fair record for the yard. Beyond Recall has claims on her early form and, if forgiving her latest runs on account of the ground, she has to enter calculations. Character Onesie normally produces his best in this grade but we like the look of HIMALAYAN QUEEN. She is a strong traveller who can sit behind what is expected to be a good pace. Her rider was on board for her most recent success and the pair are taken to swoop late and add to those summer gains.
- Himalayan Queen
- Dreaming Time
- Character Onesie
