Nicely bred sort who won well on debut at Goodwood in August (7f, soft) and has since posted credible efforts in Group/Listed company. Sets the standard in this class.

Two wins from four starts so far, most recently ran well from a mark of 84 in a decent nursery at Doncaster. May appreciate the extra yardage now and looks set to go well.

Well bred colt made an eye-catching start when scoring over 1m at Haydock (good to soft) early last month. Wasn't fully extended in doing so, should be more to come here and holds Group 1 Racing Post Trophy entry.

Colt has three wins from six starts this season, including decent 1m Ripon handicap in August. Since found heavy going too much at Haydock in Listed contest and won't want any deterioration in the ground in all probability.

Son of Nathaniel bought for 75,000gns as a yearling, showed just a modicum of promise in two runs over 1m so far, may want a bit further even than this in time.
Stayed on well to score on Hamilton debut when conditions were similar. Recorded a quick time and the runner-up has upheld the form. This is tougher but is a likely improver.

Verdict

THE REVENANT made a fine start at Haydock last month and appears to be full of potential. He wasn't asked any serious questions to get that opening win and left the impression there will be plenty more to come when required. With a Racing Post Trophy entry still on his side, he can take what looks a trappy little contest and continue his progress towards that sort of level. This won't be easy and he'll need to be as good as he looks. The form of Lisheen Castle's debut success at Hamilton is also looking decent while Goodwood maiden winner Dee Ex Bee has run with credit in Group/Listed company since his August debut and sets the standard on form. Regimented looks best of the remainder.
  1. The Revenant
  2. Dee Ex Bee
  3. Lisheen Castle
