Put some poor form behind him when exploiting a falling mark when winning on the July course over 6f here (good) last month and not beaten far on much softer ground at Ascot last time. Hard to rule out despite top-weight.

Won back-to-back handicaps at Nottingham and here on the July course in the summer (both 6f, good), but has been well held off this sort of mark on his last three starts and arguably not the yard's best hope.

Has run well in Listed races in the past but now no win since the Shergar Cup Sprint in 2015, though he has placed off higher marks than today's in the interim. Others more persuasive overall.

Has won three races this season over 6f (all decent on ground) but has found things tougher since moving up the weights and against better horses. No relief from the assessor after finishing fourth at Thirsk last time, so needs improvement.

Just the two runs on the AW last autumn, culminating in an effortless maiden win at Wolverhampton. Ensuing absence suggests a setback but she is completely unexposed and opening handicap mark looks workable if fully tuned up.

Former C&D winner who ended a lengthy losing streak when swooping late to score over 6f on the July course (good to firm) last time out. Unlikely to be far away if in the same mood having incurred just a 2lb rise.

Winner over 6f at Newbury last year but not scored since and is in a bad run of form. Working his way down to a more realistic mark but drop back to this trip and the introduction of blinkers may spark improvement.

Couldn't win a race during a busy juvenile campaign but scored for this yard over 6f on the July course (good) last month. By no means disgraced off a revised mark at Lingfield next time and likely to remain competitive.

Without success since scoring over 6f on fast ground at Thirsk in April but competitive in the main off this sort of mark. Disappointing favourite in a 7f claimer at Catterick last time out, however, so others preferred.

Winner at Windsor (6f, good to firm) earlier in the season and running well in defeat subsequently until an abject effort here on soft ground. Badly drawn when wearing first-time blinkers at Sandown last time but more in favour now.

Without a turf win since 2014, though did go close over 6f on soft ground at Haydock a few runs back. Below that form twice since however and others appear to have more going for them on balance.

Won twice for Mark Johnston up to 1m and wasn't beaten far at times from a falling mark during the summer. Interesting to see him drop back in trip wearing a first-time tongue-tie for a yard which captured this prize 12 months ago.

Gorgeous Noora (5/1), Hart Stopper (11/2), Ninjago (13/2), Mont Kiara (7/1), Moonraker (8/1), Ancient Astronaut (8/1), Related (17/2), Glenamoy Lad (14/1), Farleigh Mac (14/1), Majeste (14/1), Open Wide (14/1), Poet's Princess (20/1), Captain Lars (25/1), Yorkee Mo Sabee (28/1)

Verdict

MONT KIARA came back to form when winning a shade cosily on the July course last month before running respectably when presented with a less suitable test at Ascot last time. Having scored off a 5lb higher mark than his current rating, he remains one to be interested in and this contest would appear to be within range. The unexposed Gorgeous Noora is clearly a potential fly in the ointment along with Glenamoy Lad, whilst any market confidence behind Yorkee Mo Sabee would be interesting.
