Last successful at Epsom in July in a race that he was winning for the third time but hasn't really been in the same form since and ran a poor race at Ripon last time. Always liable to bounce back but does look vulnerable to any improving sorts.

Looks to be in really good form of late winning twice and coming second last time out to an improving three-year-old who looks a little ahead of the handicapper. Looked to find some progress himself and in the mix here off the same mark.

Had shown promise on his penultimate run at Leicester and duly backed that up over the same C&D last time. Appeared to relish the trip when winning plus the soft ground also looked a bonus and likely to continue on the up despite an 8lb rise.

Took advantage of a fall in the weights to score at Wetherby in June in a lower grade than this on soft ground over 1m2f. Not really been able to build on that run off higher marks and still looked below that form last time.

Usually seen to better effect on the Fibresand at Southwell the scene of his last Flat win having won over hurdles in the interim. Showed very little in his recent runs though (has been tried in cheekpieces) and needs more of a stamina test.

His mark had fallen considerably when he scored at Ripon in June (first-time hood) when well backed but he's really not looked like following that win up. Hood that was missing last time (ran too free) returns now back under a fully-fledged pilot.

In good heart at present winning two out of his last three starts and looks well suited by an undulating track having won at Brighton and Goodwood. Both those races were easier than this one but he'll be dangerous if allowed a soft lead.

Forecasts

Bolder Bob (8/11), Medalla De Oro (9/4), Clenymistra (5/1), Overhaugh Street (9/1), Tapis Libre (18/1), Marmion (20/1), Auxiliary (25/1), Serenity Now (40/1)

Verdict

This looks like it will revolve around two that have been making progress of late in Medalla De Oro and BOLDER BOB who looked to relish conditions and the trip last time out with the former also in a good run of form but maybe not quite as progressive. Top weight Tapis Libre looks a little vulnerable while Overhaugh Street will find this more difficult than when dominating a couple of weak handicaps of late and like Clenymistra takes a step up in class here.
  1. Bolder Bob
  2. Medalla De Oro
  3. Overhaugh Street
