His breeding suggested that he would be useful in this sphere and so it's proved with a couple of placed efforts before he scored at Huntingdon in April. Carries a penalty here but this isn't a particularly deep contest.

Pulled-up in both his starts in point-to-points and even though he is out of a half-sister to a smart bumper performer he's of only limited interest here.
3
Horse silk
7/1
Failed to settle in the early stages of his bumper debut when strong in the betting and that hinted that there may be more to come if he can be more tractable in the early stages.

Dam was a fairly useful hurdles winner although she hasn't produced anything of note yet. This is her third foal but the first two have been disappointing and the stable are hardly known for their bumper winners.

Horse silk
Rumor

Dam was a winner and the stable have had the odd bumper winner over the past five seasons. Some market interest would make him worth a second glance.

Sunader

7/2
Cost £40,000 last year and is a half-brother to a Flat winner at up to 1m4f and comes from a stable that have a decent record with their bumper representatives. Would not be a surprise to see him figure prominently here.

Sent off favourite on his debut at Newton Abbot last month he produced a fairly laboured effort going in snatches for much of the way. Stable have a 17% strike-rate in this sphere over the past five years and he may be better with some experience.

Horse silk
33/1
Failed to complete in three point-to-point runs but showed more promise on her bumper debut last month at Newton Abbot. Might be able to take a step forward here with that initial effort under her belt.

Forecasts

Hatcher (8/13), Sunader (7/2), Guiding Stars (7/1), Vintage Paradise (10/1), Rumor (20/1), Fair Westerner (25/1), Shadow's Girl (33/1), Rambling River (66/1)

Verdict

This doesn’t look a particularly deep bumper and Hatcher may well have a chance of carrying a penalty after getting off the mark at the third attempt. Guiding Stars could well be interesting if he settles better in the early stages with Rumor worth a market check. Vintage Paradise could well make some progress after an initial laboured effort but SUNADER looks a likely sort for a stable with a decent strike-rate in this sphere and he is selected to make a winning debut having been a relatively expensive purchase.
  1. Sunader
  2. Hatcher
  3. Vintage Paradise
