Back on a handy mark and comes into this on the back of her best effort for a while. Capable of going close if able to repeat the effort but not the most consistent individual, so risks attached.
Fair effort to win over 8 1/2f on the AW at Wolverhampton last winter but not in the same form since. Has gone well here in the past though and possible reverting to turf will tweak his interest. Worth noting in a weak race like this.
Still a maiden but has gone close on a number of occasions and been in good heart since joining his current yard; so worthy of consideration from what now looks to be an attractive mark.
Won an amateur riders race over C&D earlier this month and has to be respected on that effort. Just 4lb more to carry on these terms and should be suited by the conditions, but has never won twice on the bounce and needs everything to go his way.
Better effort when stepped up to a mile for her latest outing and possible today's additional 2f will draw extra out of the filly. Worth a check in the betting but does have something to prove.
Highly respected yard but the form in the book is well below the standard of many of her stablemates. Hard to fancy on that evidence and difficult to make a strong case for her even in a poor race such as this.
Very little worthwhile form posted before switching stables; three starts for current yard have hardly been an improvement, so best left to her own devices.
Loves this course and posted one of his better efforts over 1m here latest; but has mixed form when tried beyond a mile. Out of the weights and hard to see him ending his long losing run over a trip that extends him to the limit.
Surprise winner of a similar race here over 1m4f but disappointed twice since. Only tried this trip once before, so also something to prove regarding the suitability. Reasons to look elsewhere unless the betting suggests otherwise.
Last season's form was pretty forgettable and didn't show anything to suggest things have changed much when well beaten on belated seasonal return in May. Absence since then a further concern. Makes limited appeal when all pieced together.
Plenty of course experience but has hardly ever threatened to rid himself of the maiden tag in 16 previous attempts. Last of eight latest hardly suggests the tide of defeat is about to turn - especially from so far out of the weights.
Didn't impress in any of his starts for Karl Burke and has reverted to type for his new yard. Would be a most surprising winner on these terms.
Forecasts
Edge (4/1), Oceanus (9/2), Tojosimbre (13/2), Indiana Dawn (13/2), Port Lairge (8/1), Kitsey (9/1), Russian Ranger (10/1), Saint Helena (12/1), Jump Around (20/1), Follow Me (25/1), Maysonri (80/1), Greyjoy (80/1)
Consistency isn't a virtue attributed to any of this bunch - hence the grade. OCEANUS has at least made good strides forward of late and appeals as one that can take a race like this by the scruff of the neck if he is capable of extending his sequence of improved efforts. Saint Helena could also have a bit more to offer against this moderate bunch of rivals, while Russian Ranger is also one to bear in mind on the pick of his efforts.
- Oceanus
- Saint Helena
- Russian Ranger
