Rarely seen over anything further than sprint trips but has won his first September start for the past four years. Produced a rather laboured effort last time out (again slow away) and the visor goes back on here.

Proved that he could act on turf as well as the AW when winning over C&D off this mark but two of his subsequent starts were poor (possibly unsuited by the track at Catterick). Looked to take a forward step last time on the AW and well drawn here.

Despite only winning once this year he's shaped quite well since the blinkers went back on winning over 7f at Chepstow. His three subsequent runs include a couple of good efforts although he ran poorly last time out well drawn here though.

Has certainly gone the wrong way since his promising debut and has fared worse and worse since he entered handicap company. Even first-time cheekpieces couldn't arrest the slide last time out and he can only be watched here.

Her penultimate start saw her break her maiden dropped into a seller really showing the benefit of being dropped back to 7f (can run very free). That form has been franked but she ran far too free last time out to be able to back it up and needs to settle better.

Looks the type that this yard do well with but he was well held on his first start for the yard since joining from Richard Rowe. His two career wins came off much higher marks when trained in Ireland but hard to know what to expect now.

Showed some promise as a juvenile but looks to have steadily regressed since then and tried this trip for the first time in her initial run for her new yard. The hood worn last time out is retained here although she didn't show much promise.

The sole handicap debutante in the field he's shown very little so far and is already with his third yard. His first start for his new yard offered very little and he was struggling a fair way out and best watched here.

Managed to hit the frame for the first time in three years at Ayr in the summer and has to a certain extent held his form albeit at a basement level since then. Travelled better than most last time over further but has a tough draw here.

Irish raider who has fared very poorly of late in two runs on soft going over similar trips to today. Hard to make much of a case for him here on form even coming from a yard that do well with their British raiders.

Forecasts

Harbour Patrol (2/1), Etienne Gerard (5/1), D K Travel (6/1), Great Colaci (6/1), Hitchcock (8/1), Cosmic Sky (8/1), Gaelic Wizard (11/1), Quiet Moment (12/1), Tellovoi (14/1), Whip Up A Frenzy (16/1), Red Shadow (20/1), Knotty Jack (50/1)

Verdict

Fairly weak looking stuff here in a race that is now run in two divisions with it hard to construct a solid case for many of these. D K Travel should be watched in the market as his trainer J J Feane does well with his raiders and he may be better than he shown so far. The same could be said of Whip Up A Frenzy from a yard who know how to improve his sort while Cosmic Sky will have a much better chance if she settles. Gaelic Wizard bids to keep up his fabulous September record but this trip is a little of an unknown and the well drawn Harbour Patrol with the champion jockey elect taking the ride must come into the equation. A chance is taken with GREAT COLACI though who would go close in this if repeating his C&D form from earlier in the year.
  1. Great Colaci
  2. Harbour Patrol
  3. D K Travel
