Beaten just over 1L by Yellowhammer from this mark at Newmarket in July (7f good to soft) before an even better showing from a higher mark on the AW at Kempton latest. Handles cut, and on an excellent turf mark, so a major contender.
Two from three on synthetics (5f and 6f winner), but seemingly has handled the step up in trip to 7f. Faced a tough task on turf debut at Salisbury against the unpenalised previous winner Bengal Lancer and worth another go on grass.
A dual AW winner (including in a claimer at this track in late April). Has shown his best form on turf at Salisbury, winning another claimer there by 8L in May, and a runner up in a soft ground small field 7f handicap in late July.
Both career successes have come with cut in the ground, and she's now 5lb higher than when successful at Epsom (7f good to soft) on her penultimate start. Excused by faster conditions latest, but debatable as to whether she can win from this mark.
All three career successes have come over 1m2f for previous trainer Ed Dunlop. His sole turf success came at this track and he is falling sharply in the weights, but fundamentally that's because of poor form for this trainer.
Long distance traveller from East Yorkshire, and difficult to build a case for this horse on his last five starts. However, for those prepared to take a punt, his 7f Doncaster second to Burnt Sugar in early June (soft) now reads incredibly well.
Formerly with William Knight, but consistent since joining this yard, winning twice over this trip at Redcar. 3lb higher than his latest success (beat stablemate Fieldsman by a head) and reasonable claims being a proven performer on soft ground.
Twice a winner as a juvenile over 5f with give underfoot, but not in great order this season and finished a well beaten last of seven at Wolverhampton last week (claimer) when trying this 7f trip for the very first time.
Forecasts
Hajjam (5/2), Ower Fly (4/1), Intense Style (4/1), Family Fortunes (9/2), Coral Sea (8/1), Dutch Uncle (12/1), Sans Souci Bay (12/1), Awesome Allan (20/1)
OWER FLY stands out as very well treated on turf in comparison to the AW despite being a three time winner on grass. Both of his most recent pieces of form give him outstanding claims in this contest, and with Hollie Doyle booked he looks the likeliest winner. For those prepared to take a punt at more sizeable odds, the soft ground form displayed by Intense Style at Doncaster in early June now reads incredibly well. The Les Eyre trained gelding has fallen 8lbs in the weights since then, whilst his ¾L conqueror Burnt Sugar has thrived and is now rated 103.
