Angel Of Darkness23

10/3
Consistent performer all year improving rapidly from a mark of 70, winning twice over this trip (here on the AW and at Goodwood). Beaten just 2L (third) when upped to 7f at York last month. Raised another 2lb, but ground a slight query.

5/1
Risen sharply in the weights since late May, but proved herself a fair soft ground performer when winning from a 4lb lower mark at Newmarket in July (6f). Feasible that she's a fraction too high now but not entirely disgraced latest

Beat Angel of Darkness by a neck when successful at Windsor (6f good) last month and precious little to separate the pair once more at the weights. Performed to a similar level at Ripon latest and should be thereabouts if handling cut.

Notched a second career success when winning for Mark Johnston over the extended 7f at Beverley in July. Sold for 35,000 gns subsequently and finished third on stable debut to Pepita and Angel Of Darkness. Moderate since and more needed to reverse.

Yet to win beyond 5½f, with both career successes coming on the Roodeye at Chester. Had a few issues coming out of the stalls this year and well below her best, but falling in the weights and first time blinkers could spark a revival.

Beck And Call26
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: Georgia Cox(5)| T: H Candy| OR:  77| BF| CD
7/2
Made a winning handicap debut over C&D in June from a 2lb lower mark, beating today's rival Pepita by a neck. Saddle slipped on her next start, before a decent third at Windsor back from a break last month. Obvious chance if handling conditions.

Hindsight10
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: Tom Marquand| T: M Appleby| OR:  72| C
5/1
Placed in three successive starts in maidens (variety of trips) before a poor effort at York. However, back from a break to record a smooth success at short odds in a 7f maiden here recently. Dropped in trip for handicap debut.

Forecasts

Angel Of Darkness (10/3), Beck And Call (7/2), Pepita (4/1), Curious Fox (5/1), Hindsight (5/1), Rosabelle (7/1), Chupalla (16/1)

Verdict

Not a massive amount to choose between a few of these runners with interwoven form-lines, so expect Angel Of Darkness, Pepita and BECK AND CALL all to be fairly competitive. However, preference is for the Henry Candy trained filly who races from just a 2lb higher mark than when beating Pepita on handicap debut over C&D in June. The talented Georgia Cox was unlucky to see her saddle slip aboard the filly next time, so that effort can be struck from the record, and she should be a shade sharper for her recent 2¾L third to Liberatum (over 5f) at Windsor last month.
  1. Beck And Call
  2. Pepita
  3. Angel Of Darkness
