Without a win since scoring over C&D well over a year ago but he remains 9lb higher due to relative consistency. Decent effort when third from a wide draw at Chelmsford last time but no margin for error.

Seven-time winner who has scored over C&D from an identical mark in the past. That said, he's been inconsistent since last scoring at Windsor in May and he cannot be relied upon to put his best foot forward.

Much-improved this summer, winning three times (including over C&D) but the handicapper has had his say since and he was well beaten at Goodwood (7f, good) latest. Needs a career-best effort.

Turned over at long odds-on in the mud at Pontefract following a promising debut but made amends for that by scoring in good style over 1m at Nottingham last time. Likely to kick on and looks feasibly-treated for his handicap debut.

A consistent two-time winner for Ian Williams who has already won twice for current yard to make it 3 from 3 on the AW. Questions to answer as he reverts to the turf, having struggled at Doncaster on last attempt.

Scored over C&D on his debut a year ago and had twice shown up well in decent handicaps this year prior to a below par effort in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. Still early days and respected after a break.

Well-placed to win three times from seven starts, most recently when getting up in the last stride to dead-heat with Golden Goal over 1m at Chelmsford. Should remain on the upgrade but no easy task from 5lb higher.

Scored on no fewer than five occasions last season but shot up in the handicap as a result and it's now 13 starts without a success. Back down to below his last winning mark but disappointing at Chester last time.

Best on an easy surface as he underlined when scoring over 7f here in July. Has found life tougher from a revised mark since, however, finishing a well- beaten third behind Cape Byron over 1m at Ascot last time.

Winner over an extended 1m at Wolverhampton in April on his first outing since being gelded but just found wanting in five subsequent starts, including over 1m2f. Looks in need of some from relief from the assessor.

Useful performer who has won six times on the AW but has never even placed in five previous attempts on turf. Has only raced twice since finishing second at Lingfield in January and has questions to answer.

Few miles on the clock and still looked to be firmly on the upgrade when scoring with the minimum amount of fuss over 1m (good) at Windsor last month. More to do from a 5lb higher mark but respected with yard in-form.

Much-improved form when landing back-to-back 1m handicaps at Chepstow and Nottingham in July but beaten around 4L in both starts from his revised mark. Still lightly-raced so improvement may be forthcoming.

Forecasts

Sharja Bridge (9/4), The Grape Escape (6/1), Almoreb (8/1), Angel Down (8/1), Manson (11/1), See The Master (12/1), Sir Roderic (12/1), Fox Trotter (14/1), Frank Bridge (16/1), Secret Art (20/1), Pensax Boy (25/1), Calvados Spirit (40/1), Mr Bossy Boots (50/1)

Verdict

Handicap debutant Sharja Bridge never came off the bridle when winning a maiden at Nottingham but a disappointing earlier defeat at Pontefract had exposed possible flaws so he may not be the 'good thing' he appears at first glance with no fewer than six previous course and distance winners in the field. Of those, the Richard Hannon pair Almoreb and THE GRAPE ESCAPE look of particular interest with preference for the lightly-raced latter who was progressing well prior to finding the Britannia Stakes too tough at Royal Ascot.
  1. The Grape Escape
  2. Almoreb
