Won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes (5f) on soft ground at Goodwood, so conditions will hold no fears, nor will this grade if his Group 1 Prix Morny (6f, good) run last time is any guide. Looks to have plenty of bases covered and should go very close.
Placed in novices' company on his last two starts over 5f and that form is way short of what will be required to get competitive here. Looks to be tilting at windmills at this stage of his career, though racing has seen bigger upsets.
Won a Musselburgh maiden (5f, good to firm) on debut in June but unable to add to that in three further starts and well held at this level on his last two outings. Looks to have too much on his plate.
Well beaten on only previous try on soft ground, though won on good to soft at Chepstow last month and followed that up in a Sandown handicap over this trip last time. Plenty to find at this level, but going the right way.
Has made a tremendous start to her career, winning the Group 2 Queen Mary decisively at Royal Ascot (good to firm) and only just held in the Prix Robert Papin last time. Pedigree suggests she should handle soft ground and she is a leading player.
Won her Sandown maiden on soft ground in July (her third start) and followed up at York (5½f, good to soft) last week. This is much tougher and although she will relish conditions, several of these will need to misfire to see her make the frame.
Has 4½L to find with Heartache on their Queen Mary running. Showed she is capable of better when winning a Deauville Listed race (5f, good) last time. Inconsistent, however, and there are also concerns over her ability to handle soft ground.
Won a Nottingham maiden in May (5f, good) and put in a respectable effort in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood, although she has over 6L to find with Havana Grey from their running there. Looks out of her depth.
Has steadily improved throughout the season, winning twice along the way and finishing a very respectable fourth on her only previous try in Listed company. This is another step up, but she might be in the shake-up for the frame
Forecasts
Havana Grey (1/1), Heartache (6/4), May Girl (10/1), Pursuing The Dream (12/1), Roland Rocks (20/1), Yogi's Girl (25/1), Spoof (28/1), Midsummer Knight (40/1), Wings Of The Rock (50/1)
Havana Grey sets a very good standard on his Prix Morny run, but the concession of 3lb to HEARTACHE might just find him out and Clive Cox's filly is given the vote in the hope that she will handle these conditions. Pursuing The Dream has claims, though there is less optimism about his chance on soft ground. That could open the door to the each-way market and for those wishing to play at longer odds, then Yogi's Girl is going the right way and might provide a bit of value.
- Heartache
- Havana Grey
- Yogi's Girl
