Broke his duck on the Flat in a Wolverhampton maiden when last seen in this sphere over two years ago. Has been hurdling for this yard since and lost form, so not easy to assess his chance now back on the Flat from 8lb lower.
In good form this season and picked up a win at Windsor (1m2f, good to firm) in June from 4lb lower. 1¾L third over C&D (good) last time from today's mark and should be thereabouts again.
Seems to save his best for fast ground and at Bath, but has won elsewhere. Arrives on the back of a Pontefract win (1m4f, good) which came in first-time cheekpieces. Up just 2lb for that and cheekpieces retained, so looks a leading player.
In cracking form, having won three of his last four, the latest in a amateur riders' Derby over C&D (good) last month. Up 3lb for that 1¼L success, he is still improving and should again give a very good account. Best on good/fast ground.
Was a good ground winner over a similar trip at Windsor in April when 4lb lower and followed up at Kempton (1m3f, AW) next time from 2lb higher than today. Well held in all starts since and has a bit to prove even from this mark.
Aside from success in the Channel Islands or over jumps, his last Flat win in this country was in this race four years ago. Goes well on a sound surface and has claims if he could transfer his jumping abilities back to the Flat from this mark.
Placed three times from five starts in turf Flat races, the most recent at Doncaster (2m½f, good to firm) at Doncaster in April. Well beaten in two outing since and drops a further 2lb ahead of this. Not easy to see him breaking his duck today.
Scored over C&D on fast ground last time, for which he has gone up 3lb. Has not been able to win from such a mark for a long time and therefore he may find one or two too good in this attempt to follow-up.
Sole turf win was over a similar trip at Lingfield (good) last season from 11lb lower. Has added another couple of AW success to his CV since, but looks weighted up to the hilt for this return to turf and will need to be at his best to figure.
Forecasts
C'Est No Mour (9/4), Cordite (7/2), Hollywood Road (9/2), Croquembouche (7/1), Rossetti (8/1), Altaayil (12/1), Bamako Du Chatelet (14/1), Captain Peacock (20/1), Ardamir (25/1)
Altaayll would be interesting if supported ahead of this, while Hollywood Road and Croquembouche both look to be leading players on recent evidence. C'est No Mour is another with claims, although he wouldn't want any rain before the gates go back. The most interesting runner, however, is ROSSETTI, who won this four years ago when trained by Gary Moore from a 1lb higher mark and has prospered over hurdles since. He is suggested to record a second success in the race.
- Rossetti
- Hollywood Road
- C'est No Mour
