No win since the 2016 Galway Festival, well beaten off back at that venue last month. Sports first-time cheekpieces here and will need to be on best behaviour. Others more likely.

Only success came at this track in a 1m maiden a year ago, only found one too good at Roscommon last month off this mark over 1m4f and enters calculations for place money at the least now.

Comes here off the back of four very heavy defeats and is best watched from 3lb out of the handicap.

Only moderate form on the Flat, which a recent change of stables hasn't managed to rectify, beaten a total of 67L on two starts for the yard.

Forecasts

Newcross (2/1), Nannys Well (7/2), Kandahari (11/2), Lean And Keen (6/1), Full Court Press (7/1), Total Demolition (14/1), Hurricane Twister (16/1), Why Me (16/1)

Verdict

The Weld/Smullen unleashed a handicap debutant to winning effect here yesterday and there's every chance of another in NEWCROSS, second last time at Ballinrobe and with a good shot at going one better with new head gear on. Nannys Well won her maiden at this track a year ago and took second last month at Roscommon behind a facile winner, she looks capable of a good run while Kandahari might prove best of what looks a moderate field elsewhere.
  1. Newcross
  2. Nannys Well
  3. Kandahari
