First run for new yard, not a prolific winner over the years and best on softer ground too. Trip fine but can only be watched today.
Four from four since joining this yard and made the switch to fences pretty effortlessly when winning with plenty in hand at Stratford last time. Found another suitable opportunity here and has to on the shortlist despite 8lb rise for that.
Has made a mockery of the handicapper with two wide-margin wins at Stratford and Bangor this summer. Clearly improving quickly and despite the handicapper giving him a 17lb clobbering for latest win, that might not stop him. Trip and ground fine.
Useful handicap hurdler and certainly up to this class at his best, but weakened out of it alarmingly quickly at Worcester on chase debut in July and after that effort, is best watched here.
Well into the veteran stage now and a record of just six wins from 52 starts rather tells it's own story. Cheekpieces given a go today but it's late in the day for that, and others readily preferred for the win.
C&D winner in the past and very well handicapped now, but that's only because his recent form has rather fallen away and he can only be watched after another moderate effort at Worcester last time. Makes little appeal.
Forecasts
Daulys Anthem (1/1), Theo (7/4), Mr Kit Cat (9/1), Lord Ben (12/1), Walden Prince (16/1), Holeinthewall Bar (66/1)
The two improvers look the ones to concentrate on, and preference is just for THEO over Daulys Anthem . He only had to be pushed out to make a winning chase debut at Stratford and this track should suit. He can follow up at the expense of Daulys Anthem, doing absolutely nothing wrong at present but the handicapper has now had his say and he may need to improve again. That's far from impossible, of course, but Theo won't be any pushover. Lord Ben may be best of the rest.
- Theo
- Daulys Anthem
- Lord Ben
