From a stable that has been churning out juvenile winners all season, but he's clearly one of their lesser lights. Little improvement on nursery debut latest and steps up in trip with hope rather than expectation that's the answer.

Back-peddled since a promising enough debut at Ayr in mid June (6f soft) and quickly eased in the weights after a never involved at any stage nursery debut at Beverley. Needs the first time cheek-pieces to revitalise him.

Major improver on her third start when upped in trip to 7f and finishing a ½L second to Wahoo at Thirsk recently (good). Obvious contender if able to replicate that effort on nursery debut.

Mixed messages with regards trip on her three starts so far, and it wasn't a strong contest in which she finished fourth in over 1m at Ripon just over a fortnight ago. An easy 7f looks a reasonable option for her nursery bow.

Her pedigree and early efforts strongly imply that she'll need a longer trip to be seen in a better light, but her latest start at Ripon (6f) was arguably her weakest showing to date. Worth a glance in the market from a low mark.

Stablemate of Here In The Dark, who is raised 4lb for a comfortable C&D success earlier in the month. She proved strong at the finish that day (first start beyond 5f) and that form could be franked in Division 1 by a number of other horses.

Not figured at any stage in any of his three previous starts which came over the course of a 3-4 week period from mid July. Makes his nursery debut from a lowly mark needing to show much more to play a hand.

No signs of ability in five starts over shorter trips, including in a couple of spins in similar events. Up in trip and down in the weights, but this yard isn't exactly renowned for providing a steady stream of juvenile winners.

Started at big prices on all three appearances so far and appears of limited ability (dam placed in a seller). Steps up in trip on nursery debut.

Forecasts

Kikini Bamalaam (10/3), Claramara (7/2), Foxy Lady (5/1), Ryedale Encore (6/1), Kylie Rules (7/1), Here In The Dark (15/2), Ventura Gold (10/1), Saxonroad Boy (11/1), I Am Dandy (28/1), Oriental Power (33/1)

Verdict

Kikini Bamalaam looked strong at the finish on her first try at this trip when winning over C&D earlier in the month. Her chance is an obvious one from a 4lb higher mark, and her claims could be further enhanced by a positive showing from the likes of Ray Purchase, Archie Perkins and Ladycammyofclare in Division 1 of this nursery half an hour earlier. However, CLARAMARA was another to appreciate the step up in trip to 7f when showing marked improvement at Thirsk, and she could prove tough to beat on her debut at this level for trainer Mark Johnston who has a strong record with his runners North of the Border.
  1. Claramara
  2. Kikini Bamalaam
  3. Kylie Rules
