A winner in bumpers and over hurdles his recent Flat debut showed a modest amount of ability in this sphere without ever looking like winning. Wasn't subjected to a hard ride though and might be able to show some improvement in the long term.

Showed some ability remains when he made his first Flat appearance for nearly two years at Newcastle recently racing freely though and not having the best of runs through. Only has a rating of 46 though and would be a very surprising winner here.
This Haafhd gelding makes his debut here at the age of four with the dam related to winners but her three previous foals have produced very little on the track.
Another one that has graduated from the bumper field having run four times in that sphere without winning. Has shown ability on both her Flat starts at Kempton and Ripon over 1m4f and travelled well last time out when second to a well-backed/fancied favourite and a repeat of that run would see her go close here.

Comes over from Ireland and runs for a yard that have had success on these shores and ran his best race last time out at Ayr over 1m2f (tongue-tie on for first time). At least forced a long odds-on favourite to come off the bridle and is of interest again here on the back of that run.
Doesn't really have that much to offer on pedigree and on his debut he's best watched here with the race likely to be needed.

Looking at her pedigree there's something to like about it and she comes from a top Northern stable. Started at 10/1 on her debut (easy to back) at Pontefract over a mile and now steps up 4f in trip with a little better expected.

Forecasts

Itsalonglongroad (4/5), State Sovereignty (13/8), Scottsdale (2/1), Pantera (9/1), Bumble Bay (20/1), The Foozler (33/1), Budarri (50/1), My Distant Murphy (80/1), Ferngrove (100/1)

Verdict

A real mixed bag here with three runners standing head and shoulders above the rest of the field. State Sovereignty would go close if repeating either of her last two runs with Itsalonglongroad looking to show a similar profile. The suggestion here though is SCOTTSDALE who switches to the Flat from bumpers with the Ellison yard having had success with this modus operandi before. Pantera looks to be the only logical runner to trouble the big three with the rest of the field looking to be destined for low grade handicaps eventually.
  1. Scottsdale
