Won with something in hand at Musselburgh on Friday and returns to a track where he has won four times. That was his first success in two years and he has scored off much higher marks than this in the past. Sole concern is that all his victories have come on quicker ground than forecast here.
Placed twice under this rider in June but those efforts were over 1m2f. Drops in class but hard to fancy over this trip from an unappealing mark.
Had a few of these behind when scoring at Ripon under this rider two weeks ago. Produced back to back victories twice in 2016 and, with his mark remaining attractive, he has sound claims of giving his in form trainer another winner.
Has looked better since dropping to a mile and now 2lb below the mark which produced a win at Epsom a year ago. Noted making late headway last time when behind Ellaal and Rebel State but better treated now. One for the shortlist.
20-race maiden and likely to remain so as he is not particularly resolute. Has the services of a top amateur so likely to go close once more whilst others are more appealing for win purposes.
Supported for a similar event on Saturday but failed to land a blow. Stable are going through a quiet spell and rider lacks experience. A high draw is not necessarily a disadvantage over the mile here but others make more appeal.
Reserves his best for this circuit but now 14 runs since his last victory. Rider is having just her third ride in public.
Sprang a 33/1 surprise under Serena Brotherton over 1m2f here last month. Handicapper has set her some stiff tasks since and the drop to a mile makes matters more difficult.
Handicap mark is looking more attractive as the losing run now stretches back 20 races. Top amateur is 4-19 around here and earns more respect on that score than his current performances may warrant.
Sole win came in early 2015 and there has been little evidence since his return to suggest he was ready to add a second victory soon.
Has lost his way lately and finished tailed off at Newcastle last week. Looks hard to fancy on that account.
1-23 record with that victory coming on Fibresand 18 months ago. Seems much better on that surface and yet to make the frame on turf.
Sprang a 40/1 surprise over 1m2f at Newcastle last week and races off a slightly lower mark this afternoon. Trainer has secured a talented rider who is excellent value for her claim. Will be hard to beat if as effective over this trip back on turf.
Has gone two years and 22 races since his last win. Recent efforts have done little to suggest he will end that run soon.
Losing run stretches back 15 races. Went well under this rider when setting the pace over 1m2f here on penultimate start. Missed the break next time and was soundly beaten. A repeat of that previous effort could make him a surprise package back to his optimum trip.
Yet to make the frame in 13 career starts and hard to see him faring much better this time.
Forecasts
Relight My Fire (4/1), Catastrophe (4/1), Bigbadboy (15/2), Zephyros (8/1), Sooqaan (8/1), Ellaal (9/1), Rebel State (10/1), Ingleby Spring (11/1), I'm Super Too (20/1), Ivors Involvement (20/1), Graceful Act (33/1), Mount Cheiron (33/1), Rupert Boy (40/1), Yair Hill (50/1), Stanlow (50/1), Fledermaus (80/1)
A desperately tricky finale in which many have questions to answer of one sort or another. Bigbadboy and Graceful Act are recent winners who may prefer further. Sooqaan has a much sought after rider on board but he is looking difficult to catch right at present. Relight My Fire is in good form and goes well here. Faster ground may be the key to him and preference is for ELLAAL. Ruth Carr has her team in excellent shape and the recent Ripon winner has shown he is one who is more than capable of stringing a couple of victories together once he hits form. Ingleby Spring is on a good mark and makes each-way appeal.
- Ellaal
- Relight My Fire
