Sellers have very much been her metier this year landing a trio of them but likely to struggle back in handicaps giving weight away all-round.

A dual C&D winner in slightly better company last time out he ought to be able to cope with this rise in the weights having won smoothly on that occasion. He ought to be able to cope with a 5lb higher mark on ground that will suit and over a C&D that he's shown his best on.

It wasn't until his ninth attempt in maidens that he finally got off the mark although that was probably down to his quirky and on occasion's uncooperative nature. He's not looked any more straightforward since he's been switched to handicaps and remains one to take care with even when he does travel well.

He really is in the form of his career at the moment and looks in the middle of a real purple patch having won his last three starts leading from traps to line in trademark fashion each time. His mark has only risen by 4lb in all those wins but he's up into higher grade now and this may prove more of a test as he chases a four-timer.

A capable sort he's often slow away and that can hamper his chance and he could well be on the back foot here and given his last few runs he would probably be better over 6f. Would look dangerous if the pace did collapse as he's won off higher marks in the past when with his previous yard.

Has enjoyed success over C&D twice and took advantage of a drop in the weights to win on his penultimate start on the AW at Newcastle. Back on turf last time he never landed a blow off this mark but is generally a sort who wins when he wants and can't be relied upon.

Already a three-time winner this season the last coming off a 5lb higher mark in May he's rather lost his way since. All of his recent starts indicate that he's rather gone off the boil and it would be a shock were he to win here.

Forecasts

Sitar (6/4), Operative (3/1), Classic Pursuit (6/1), Culloden (7/1), Ambitious Icarus (17/2), Nag's Wag (20/1), Roy's Legacy (40/1)

Verdict

There’s just one three-year-old in this line-up and he looks to be the only one capable of any further progression so SITAR is taken to add to his two wins already this year. Culloden is searching for a four-timer but his runs style may make him a sitting duck here as he takes on better company for the first time for a while. Operative has talent but will he choose to use it while Classic Pursuit and Ambitious Icarus often spoil their chances with slow and tardy starts.
  1. Sitar
  2. Culloden
  3. Operative
