Won over C&D in March and recorded back-to-back victories on turf at Musselburgh and Catterick in June. Struggled off higher handicap mark on only subsequent Flat start and not at his best over hurdles last time. Can go well again back on the AW.
Four victories last year, including one over C&D, but three runs this time round have not been so productive. Back on her last winning mark so every chance if she can return to something approaching her best.
Only win so far came at Southwell in February, 2016. However, he did run well when second over C&D in June before a couple of moderate hurdle runs and a more recent last of eight back on the Flat at Lingfield. Has prospects off this mark if he can regain his best form.
Fair performer over the years and his victory at Doncaster two starts ago was his ninth. He is 6lb higher now, but has course form and has an each-way shout.
Has run in 47 Flat races, winning five of them, including a 2m contest at Redcar in April. His AW rating is 7lb higher, though, which gives him a tough, though not impossible task.
Won twice for the late Alan Swinbank, and has been running creditably over hurdles for his current handler. Reverts to the Flat in first-time cheekpieces and is of interest off 1lb lower than his last wining mark.
Won his first race in six starts since being gelded when comfortably landing a Newcastle handicap in June, but has been well beaten in two subsequent outings over shorter on turf. He is 6lb higher than when last successful, but should be happy to be back on the AW.
Winner of nine races, but has not struck since June, 2015, and has slipped down the weights. Undeniably well handicapped, but has not been able to cash in on recent runs and might not be as good as he was.
Has run three times on turf and once on the AW, beating only one rival in those four outings. Cheekpieces and a hood have been fitted for previous runs, but headgear is left off this time. Easily opposed.
Not much to shout about over hurdles and fences for current trainer and now tries her luck back on the Flat. Difficult to see her getting involved judged on recent evidence.
Forecasts
Mr Globetrotter (11/4), Wordiness (9/2), Whitecliff Park (13/2), Cavalieri (13/2), Lady Makfi (7/1), Ruler Of The Nile (7/1), See And Be Seen (10/1), Chevalgris (16/1), Lady Emma (80/1), The Absent Mare (80/1)
One or two of these appear to be making up the numbers, while others have been struggling to find their best form. Whitecliff Park should be happier back on the AW and has prospects, See and Be Seen would be well handicapped if staging a revival, and Lady Makfi is back on her last winning mark. Top weight Mr Globetrotter knows how to win and cannot be dismissed despite his welter burden, but the selection is CHEVALGRIS, who has been performing quite well over hurdles, runs off a feasible handicap mark and wears cheekpieces for the first time. Cavalieri may be the best of the rest.
- Chevalgris
- Whitecliff Park
