Looked to be steadily progressive in maidens although that improvement didn't show through on his handicap debut. This is a drop in grade but he does need to show more to be of interest on his second handicap start.

A visor is now tried on her handicap debut having really only one decent run to her name in maidens so far as she steps up again in trip. Should be suited by this trip but hasn't shown that much so far although handicaps may bring out more in her.

One of three handicap debutantes in this came back from a 66 day break to run his qualifying race for handicaps in a Windsor turf maiden last time. This represents another step up in trip but his mark looks fine and he should be able to take a hand.

Took a while to get off the mark but finally managed that when taking a Doncaster handicap over 1m4f on his penultimate start having gone back to handicaps after running in two maidens previous to that. Ran with credit in a Thirsk handicap last time out when favourite although he probably had the run of the race with both the front two racing prominently.

Ran a fair race on his handicap debut here over 1m2f still looking as though he was a work in progress. However he failed to build on that run last time out over the same trip and looked a little laboured so this greater distance could be what he needs.

From a stable having a really good year this one is edging down the weights and steps up in trip here although his previous handicap wins haven't really done enough to make him of interest here.

She's shown very little on her three runs so far and never landed a blow on her last run in maidens and makes her handicap debut here. She steps up in trip here and even this mark of 60 may look too high.

Remains a maiden after eight starts the last five in handicaps and now runs off a career low mark although he appears to be lacking in improvement. He's bred to stay this far but didn't show himself in the best light on his first attempt at the trip.

Conditions may not have suited her last time out at Nottingham over 2m on heavy ground and she's had plenty of chances in handicaps now but shows no signs of taking advantage of a falling mark.

Steps up in trip after three tries in handicaps at 1m4f but only has one solid piece of form in this sphere In a Salisbury 1m4f event off a 2lb higher mark. Raced far too freely last time out and will need to settle better to see out this trip.

Forecasts

Ingleby Mackenzie (3/1), Murchison River (5/1), Delannoy (7/1), Light Gunner (8/1), High Wells (8/1), Nothing Compares (10/1), Dukinta (11/1), Percy Thrower (12/1), Sheila's Fancy (12/1), Noble Behest (14/1), Franny Nisbet (16/1)

Verdict

It may well be best to take a look at the handicap debutantes here with MURCHISON RIVER very much looking the sort who will be better now he goes handicapping. Ingleby Mackenzie brings the solid handicap form into the race but he may be vulnerable to an improver such as the suggestion here. High Wells looks the sort who can build on what he’s done so far with Dukinta the wild card who may show more going handicapping.
  1. Murchison River
  2. Ingleby Mackenzie
  3. High Wells
