Maiden winner on fourth start over C&D in August, has run in some decent company since without success though effort in April at Gowran Park wasn't as bad as the placing suggests, before disappointing last day at Leopardstown.

Failed to trouble the judge in six outings so far, including a trip across the sea last day in a Bath 1m5f handicap.
Unable to get off the mark in six runs for Johnny Murtagh, though did shape with some promise when 2½L third of eight in 1m2f Leopardstown claimer, before well beaten last day on stable debut here in Flat handicap.
Second of eight at Roscommon last month over this trip and beaten 8L in Ballinrobe claimer over 1m1f on yielding to soft ground, before a disastrous 15th of 16 in Naas
Failed to progress as a juvenile after showing initial promise and similar tale in three starts this term, though 10th of 15 and well beaten at Tipperary, before 9th of 12 in Ballinrobe handicap.

Held on all seven starts to date including over an extended 1m3f at Haydock, before last of 10 at Lingfield last day, while with Hughie Morrison.
Has tended to find things hard going in turf handicaps over 1m/1m1½f recently, continues to drop in the ratings as a result.

Glimpses of ability as a two-year-old but starts since joining his current yard have been uninspiring, including well beaten on last two Flat starts.

Cost 32,000 gns as a yearling, there hasn't been much to shout about in three maidens, two in Britain and stable bow for this trainer at Tipperary in June. Subsequent Flat starts have been disappointing.
Posted couple of improved efforts recently for the addition of blinkers, notably at Leopardstown three starts ago when beaten less than 2L. Nine-race maiden, seven of them on turf.
Has to improve significantly on the form of two autumn appearances in mile maidens and a heavy defeat last day in Tipperary 1m2f maiden.

Forecasts

Brutal (1/2), Grey Waters (7/2), Vision D'Ete (10/1), Richard Strauss (16/1), Vanderbilt (16/1), Foxy Lass (25/1), Machine Head (33/1), Little Princess (33/1), Downtown Rebel (40/1), Masterstonemason (40/1), Nobleman (50/1), Loose Chippings (50/1)

Verdict

All make their hurdling debut in this race. Based on their Flat starts, Grey Waters, Downtown Rebel and Loose Chippings have been known to lead. In a race that very difficult to access the runners' experience, I feel, Vanderbuilt, Richard Strauss, Grey Waters and Little Princess all deserve a second look, but preference is for BRUTAL, thought good enough to run in the Group 1, Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster when with Ger Lyons, who should be speedy enough to take care of these.
  1. Brutal
  2. Grey Waters
  3. Little Princess
