Can be hard to predict but very capable when he puts his mind fully to the task. best effort for a short while at Ascot last weekend and not much to find from just a 2lb higher mark. Never won from a rating this high before, though, and personal best required.
Formerly useful during his time with Godolphin but had been on the sidelines for a while before his return at York last week. never landed a blow there and only a very strong market move would justify any interest today.
Won over 6f at this course but is effective over this trip, as evidenced when winning at Chester on his penultimate outing. This looks a lot tougher an, as he was disappointing last time, he has a lot to prove now.
Smart in his early days, he has dropped to a handy mark and, as was seen at Doncaster earlier in the campaign, he still retains plenty of enthusiasm. His three career wins have been well spread out and he does need to better his recent form if he is going to take a hand in events here.
Landed a brace of wins earlier in the season and proved he can hold his own in the grade subsequently. More required to come out on top but looks a sporting option to make the frame at likely long odds.
Came good at Ripon last time out and respected despite his 3lb higher mark. Has posted a winning sequence in the past but not from marks this high and he looks vulnerable in this company.
Lightly raced since making a winning racecourse debut last year. Well supported on belated seasonal return at Pontefract, in what has to go down as a disappointing effort. Dangerous to rule out but others make a touch more appeal.
Placed to good effect to make amends after the rider lost his irons at Ayr three starts ago. Up a further 2lb today but still less exposed than a few of the rest and makes plenty of appeal here. Shortlisted for a place at least.
Yard in good form and has dropped a couple of hints that he may be able to capitalise from what is now a very attractive handicap mark. Wouldn't want the ground too soft though.
Respected on the best of his form but was behind Saint Equiano at Beverley latest and needs everything to go his way to reverse the form.
Dropped to a handy mark and posted encouraging signs lately. Upped in trip today, which should suit him ideally, so could be highly significant to see him supported in the betting ring.
Suffered from a high rating after making a winning racecourse debut but is dropping to a handy mark these days. Another with a bit to find with Saint Equiano but suited by the conditions and coped well to finish second over C&D in his latest start. Can pick up the piecs if his old rival falters for any reason.
Forecasts
Saint Equiano (9/2), Burnt Sugar (6/1), Muirsheen Durkin (6/1), Fayez (13/2), Bamber Bridge (9/1), Theodorico (10/1), Bertiewhittle (10/1), God Willing (10/1), Shouranour (11/1), Sakhee's Return (14/1), Explain (16/1), Start Time (50/1)
This appears to be a decent opportunity for SAINT EQUIANO to add to his tally after his recent success at Carlisle. This doesn't look much tougher and a 4lb higher mark may not be enough to anchor the gelding. Fayez and Muirsheen Durkin need luck on their side to reverse recent form with the selection, but Theodorico doesn't have much to find and can represent good value for a place in the frame.
- Saint Equiano
- Fayez
- Theodorico
