A winner over C&D in May that saw him score his first win and followed that up with a decent second back here over slightly further. Failed to settle well enough to do himself justice last time out but could be worth another chance.
Has won over C&D but has developed a rather unreliable streak and looks a rather hard ride these days. Back below his last winning mark but his attitude may well be holding him back.
Added to his good course record when winning here recently taking advantage of having the run of the race. Often leads and can run freely but hard to leave out of calculations around his home course.
Scored back-to-back wins at Hamilton (C&D) and Ayr in June both on soft ground but hasn't really been able to follow-up that form. Generally runs her races here although she may well be better at Ayr.
Makes his debut for a new yard here having previously been Jeremy Gask and ran his best race for some while on his last start for his previous yard at 7f on the AW at Wolverhampton. His one run on turf was poor though and may well be best watched here on his return to the surface.
Like a few from this yard she runs regularly and this will be her 9th run of the year although she has yet to score. Has run the odd creditable race but needs to bounce back from a poor run at York where she finished last of seven.
Won her maiden at this course and her trainer is a regular visitor here although he trains in Ireland. Ran respectably under a penalty back in a handicap last time out (took strong hold) and could take a step back in the right direction here.
Very much improved on his previous form when getting off the mark at Ripon over a mile and wasn't disgraced when trying to follow-up that win over C&D last time. Certainly effective on the ground and one to take a look at in the market and still only 3lb above his winning mark.
Makes his handicap debut here after three runs on the AW at Newcastle in maidens where he could have done better although he did show some ability. Opening mark doesn't look especially generous and makes his turf debut here on alien going.
Headgear (cheekpieces) go on for the first time as his losing runs starts to extend and he was certainly below form last time over C&D.
The third Irish challenger in this race she comes back from a decent break here having finished a good second on her last run at Dundalk on the AW. Looks to be on a fair mark although her overall form tempers enthusiasm overall and others are preferred.
Now on a long losing run and making her second start for this yard after previously being with Karl Burke. Mark looks a touch beyond her at the moment.
Forecasts
Amy Blair (4/1), Heatongrad (5/1), Set In Stone (6/1), Fivehundredmiles (15/2), Archie's Advice (8/1), Fidelma Moon (17/2), Dark Crystal (10/1), Framley Garth (12/1), Celestation (12/1), Beauden Barrett (16/1), Spiritofhayton (20/1), Timia (33/1)
The finale to the card looks a little puzzle with the market looking wide open and very few of these in progressive form. Amy Blair runs this course we;; and looks to be the pick of the Dalgleish pair with last year’s winning trainer Richard Fahey having another shot at the race with Heatongrad. Dark Crystal is one of five C&D winners although she is usually better at Ayr and she needs to improve on her recent form along with others like Beauden Barrett and Celestation. In the end though it might be worth taking a chance with one of the Irish challengers in FIVEHUNDREDMILES who has scope off this mark if he settles better.
- Fivehundredmiles
- Amy Blair
- Heatongrad
