Completed a double when winning over 5f at Newcastle in a valuable event at the end of June. Disappointing upped to Group company at Sandown (good-to-firm) subsequently and likely to prefer quicker ground than he'll encounter here.
Ran well when finishing a close sixth at Epsom (good) over 5f two months ago but disappointed in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot (good-to-firm) upped to 6f later that month. One to note as having taken this race off a 4lb lower mark in 2016.
Finished a close third over 5f on soft ground at York in May though well beaten in two outings on faster surfaces since then. Races off a mark 3lb lower than at York but yard out of form at present (0/40).
Finished a neck second in a competitive event over this distance on good-to-firm ground at Musselburgh in June. Excuses when well beaten the last twice but others appear to have a more obvious chance in this.
Successful on soft ground at Newmarket over this distance in June last year but well beaten on only start since in a competitive contest at Ascot (good) last month and more needed here.
C&D winner on good ground in May and ran well off a 4lb higher mark when 1L second here later that month. Has to defy a further 2lb rise today and likely to be involved in the finish once more.
Missed last season and gelded earlier this year. Justified odds-on favouritism on his third run of this season on good-to-soft ground at Windsor dropping to this trip for the first time and likely to run well despite a 6lb penalty for that success.
Finished third the last twice most recently on good ground over this distance at Newmarket last month. Rated 6lb higher than when winning on the AW at Kempton in April and likely to try and make all here.
Successful twice already this season including on good-to-firm ground at Windsor last month. Has to defy a 4lb rise for that success and is an interesting runner stepping up in class today.
Victorious on his first two outings this season including at Chester (good) over this distance in May. Respectable efforts in valuable contests twice since but disappointing at Ascot last month and more needed here.
Beaten a short-head in a valuable contest over this distance at Epsom (good) in June. Fair efforts over 6f since prior to finishing 3L fourth behind Love On The Rocks on his return to 5f at Windsor (good-to-firm) last time and softer surface here looks likely to suit.
Successful over 5f at Bath (good-to-firm) on his penultimate outing but beaten 2¾L when fourth behind Atletico at Windsor (good-to-soft) next time out and work to do if he's to reverse that form today.
Ran well when beaten a head over 5f at Sandown (good-to-firm) last month. Races off a 1lb higher mark today and represents a yard who have had a couple of winners in recent weeks (2/5).
Winning for the eighth time when successful at Chester (good-to-soft) at the weekend. Carries a 6lb penalty for that success but best form has come on soft ground and an interesting runner with a promising apprentice booked for the ride.
Been busy of late finishing third to Atletico over 5f at Windsor (good-to-soft) prior to finishing runner-up at Ascot (good-to-soft) over 5f last Friday. Rated 4lb higher than for his most recent success and others make more appeal here.
Forecasts
Atletico (9/2), Harry Hurricane (6/1), Dark Shot (6/1), A Momentofmadness (7/1), Vibrant Chords (9/1), Boom The Groom (9/1), Confessional (12/1), Pettochside (16/1), Line Of Reason (16/1), Green Door (22/1), Love On The Rocks (25/1), Union Rose (28/1), El Astronaute (33/1), Kasbah (33/1), Poyle Vinnie (50/1)
The gelding operation seems to have worked for ATLETICO and he won easily enough last time out at Windsor to suggest that this penalty could be lenient. Softer ground should suit Dark Shot better than most here while Boom The Groom can't be dismissed after winning this last year off a similar mark.
- Atletico
- Dark Shot
- Boom The Groom
