Slowly working his way back down to his most recent winning mark, but that was his only victory in Britain and he has too much to prove for him to be recommended for win purposes.
Yet to win in handicap company, nor has he gone particularly close, but he has run with credit and no surprise to see him take a place in this.
0/11 in his career and has been particularly poor of late; first time blinkers need to inspire a career best by a considerable distance here.
Frequently-raced veteran who has been in good form so far this year, including over this C&D. 5lb higher than at the time of his last victory but has won off higher marks than this in the past and has pleasing strike-rates at this course and on the forecast ground.
Not in the worst of form recently but three of his four wins have come on Newcastle's Tapeta surface and it seems he may have developed a preference for that synthetic ground.
Has performed well since switching to handicaps and still seems to be on a reasonable rating. Has improved with just about every run so far and is lightly-raced enough to suggest that there could be further progression to come.
Up 2lb from when not beaten far over C&D last time out, and though it should be a slight concern that her sole win to date has come on firm ground, first time cheek pieces can only be a positive.
Hasn't shown much either in maidens or handicaps and no reason for that to suddenly change now up against some talented and progressive rivals.

Dragons Voice (7/4), Stanley (9/2), Glorious Poet (9/2), Snow Squaw (5/1), The Yellow Bus (6/1), Shifting Star (11/1), Beaconsfield (12/1), Bollihope (14/1), Topology (25/1), Prosecute (25/1)
There are a couple of improving youngsters here who could progress to take this, but maybe the veteran SHIFTING STAR can put his experience to good use. He's a fair bit higher in the weights than when last winning but has dealt with bigger weights than this in the past, and his strike-rates at this course, over this distance and on the forecast ground are all highly encouraging, as is the form he has been in this year. He can see off the challenge of Dragons Voice, who seems to still be well handicapped, and Snow Squaw who has been running very well recently but has something to prove in these conditions.
- Shifting Star
- Dragons Voice
- Snow Squaw
