Top weight and on a 26-race losing streak so does appear to be very much in the handicapper's grip despite a steady fall in the ratings over the last year. Yard in form, but not an obvious winner.

Risen 12lb in the ratings this summer courtesy of two wins in May at Yarmouth. Solid effort since under today's rider and should again give her running.

Still a maiden but two sound runs from three starts this term suggest there is a race to be won with him. Trip and ground seem fine and has place claims, at least.

Two years since last success (when trained by D O'Meara) and has dropped 20lbs down the ratings as a result. Has a squeak on his best form but may again find a few too good for him.

Four-time C&D winner but it is 25 months and 24 races since he forced his head in front. Two poor efforts here this term and looks to be really struggling for form at the moment.

Won twice as a juvenile but hasn't cut much ice over the last two seasons, including in three starts for current yard. Did show a little spark at Wetherby in June but disappointed again last time out.

Very lightly raced four-year-old who clearly hasn't been the easiest to train. Has shown a little ability and has first run in a handicap here off feasible mark. One of the more interesting contenders.

Won Epsom 10f handicap last term and off for nine months before poor first run of the campaign here earlier this month when tailed off. Has plenty to prove and is readily overlooked.

Won twice over C&D last year and has run her best races this year at this course as well. First time cheekpieces today and should run well, but draw could have been much kinder.

Standing dish at Beverley and Hamilton over the years and lost out in photo-finish here in a seller earlier this month. Gone up in the weights though and into the veteran stage so may struggle.

Badly out of form in two runs this year and in previous two campaigns. Looks a lost soul at present and hard to see where the improvement is going to come from.

0-23 on turf (although has won on A/W) and did little to suggest he's going to break his duck with a lack lustre effort at Ayr last time.

Gone fairly close on last two runs on turf at Musselburgh and Yarmouth and jockey booking suggest connections are hopeful of another decent run. Should be thereabouts and one to consider in an open affair.

Forecasts

Old China (7/2), Arcane Dancer (5/1), False Id (13/2), So It's War (8/1), I'm Super Too (8/1), Moi Aussie (8/1), Pepys (10/1), Relight My Fire (11/1), Rosie Crowe (12/1), Justice Pleasing (12/1), Captain Peaky (16/1), Monsieur Jimmy (22/1), Thornaby Nash (22/1), Ingleby Spring (25/1), Media World (25/1), Mayfield Boy (33/1)

Verdict

This is something of a lottery, but the mare ROSIE CROWE has been in fair form of late and the fact that connections have booked a top rider this time suggests they're hopeful of another good effort. Moi Aussie is one of a number of other with decent claims, along with Old China and Arcane Dancer, althoguh the latter has been drawn out in the car park. At a big price, the unexposed Media World is not without hope either on his handicap bow, while veteran I'm Super Too has it to do, but loves it here.
  1. Rosie Crowe
  2. Moi Aussie
  3. Media World
