Won a maiden over C&D and has since made a solid start to her career in handicaps, having not been beaten far on turf the last twice. Possible she prefers the Polytrack and she has leading claims in what looks a winnable race.

In good form on the all-weather recently and possible that she prefers a synthetic surface, which is an obvious help here. Looks on a fair mark and isn't short of the required speed for this trip. Interesting if overcoming a wide draw.

C&D winner who hasn't been running very poorly of late, but is building up a concerning losing run and has plenty to find now, despite a gradually lowering handicap mark.

7/2
C&D winner who hinted at a return to form last time out when finishing a fair second at Bath (5½f, good to firm). Needs to continue at that level of form now, but goes off the same mark here, which should help.

Narrowly got up at Brighton last time but is only 1lb higher now, and so should be capable of putting in a similar performance. That could be enough to secure another win here, on surface she enjoys.

24-race maiden who is proving difficult enough to win with. Only beaten a length at Wolverhampton last time (5f, standard), but more on his plate now.

Makes her handicap debut having only beaten one horse home in three maidens and looks impossible to make a case for, despite having a very low opening mark.

Forecasts

Tooty Fruitti (13/8), Ask The Guru (7/2), Mercers (7/2), Camino (9/2), Powerful Wind (15/2), Something Lucky (15/2), Pharoh Jake (8/1), Mags Well (12/1), Barnsdale (25/1), Sea My Diamond (80/1)

Verdict

MERCERS has made a good start in handicaps recently, always seeming to run her race and remaining on what looks to be a workable handicap mark. Added to C&D form from when she won her maiden (she one of few of these good enough to win one), and she looks a likely type in a sprint handicap that lacks serious depth. A repeat of her last performance would see Camimo go close, while Ask The Guru hinted at a revival at Bath last time out and is also feared.
