Steps down markedly in class having been beaten 20L at odds of 100/1 in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, but seems to have plenty to do off his current mark up against some improving types.
Won off a higher mark than this at Lingfield in February, but hasn't been able to build on that victory since, though he did run with slightly more promise when doing all his best work late at Sandown earlier in the month.
Only 1lb higher than when not beaten far in a better handicap than this at Windsor last time out (5f, good to soft). Ran well in maidens prior to that, including winning at Ripon on good to firm ground, and has the potential to improve further.
Beaten less than a length on his two most recent starts, when seemingly lacking the pace to get on terms on each occasion. First time headgear is reached for.
Made a promising start to his career in handicaps before performing mildly disappointingly at Windsor last time out. Progressive prior to that and a 2lb drop in the weights will help.
Has gone close the last twice off similar marks to this, and as a C&D scorer (on this ground), may be able to make amends for when only just beaten as favourite at Brighton last time out.

Forecasts
Yalawin (6/4), Mr Pocket (7/2), Open Wide (4/1), Super Julius (5/1), Tomily (6/1), Barrington (8/1), Arzaak (14/1)
Though he was beaten at a short price last time out, YALAWIN is a fairly confident selection here. Prior to that defeat at Windsor, Roger Varian's colt was an easy winner of a Ripon maiden and should have plenty more to offer, particularly if he enjoys the return to fast ground here. This looks an easier race and up only 1lb he can be expected to run a very big race indeed. Mr Pocket has been on the premises the last twice and could be next best, while hat-trick seeking Super Julius would be interesting if appearing here having also been declared at Windsor last night.
