Infrequent winner, but now 7lb lower than last winning mark so dangerous if he does come back to form, but hasn't shown any signs of doing so, and drop to this grade two starts back didn't improve the situation. Won't mind any rain, but plenty to prove.

Trip and likely ground fine, and is a C&D winner here in the past, was in great form around this time last year and has given the impression there's a race to be won with him soon. Market may guide.

Winner on the sand at Wolverhampton last year, may well have needed both runs this season to achieve peak fitness and wasn't totally disgraced last time. Needs to come back to form but early days yet, and shouldn't be dismissed lightly.

Irish raider running with great consistency, C&D winner here in May (quick ground) but was a beaten favourite here a fortnight later. Back to form with latest head second at Fairyhouse and chances from just 2lb higher here.

Last win came over this C&D last year, and is 7lb lower now, so has her plus points, and she turned in her best run for a while when third to Dark Defender here last week. Not out of it if building on that.

Seems to race exclusively at Ayr now, and likes the track. Winner here in May but some poor efforts since, and has been well beaten on last couple of starts, Always capable of the upset here but on balance, others readily preferred.

Very inconsistent but capable sprinter, much better than this at his peak but recent effort here at Ayr (after an absence) suggests he'll need a few more runs before achieving peak fitness.

Won on debut for this yard last September but not so good since, although best recent run came over C&D, which offers some hope. Outclassed last time and will be more at home here. Risky, but not discounted.

Kept busy and this will be her eighth start since a C&D win at the beginning of June, but shows no signs of it catching up with her if her close third at Carlisle on her latest start is anything to go by. Looks mildly progressive and can't be ruled out.

Only had the six runs and still relatively unexposed. Looked to be getting the hang of things late at Hamilton last time and definitely worth another try at 6f on the back of it, not discounted if she can build on that.

Forecasts

Duncan Of Scotland (10/3), Metisian (4/1), Sea Of Green (9/2), Specialv (9/2), Dandyleekie (13/2), Danish Duke (15/2), Desperados Destiny (8/1), Circuitous (16/1), Lotara (18/1), Goninodaethat (20/1), Cool Run Girl (25/1)

Verdict

Plenty of these hold some sort of chance, and sorting them out isn't easy. METISIAN just gets the vote on the back of his Doncaster win as he should be able to progress again and defy a rise in the weights if in the same form. Duncan Of Scotland is likely to give this a go from the front but may just find the selection too strong late on. Sea Of Green may be best of the rest.
  1. Metisian
  2. Duncan Of Scotland
  3. Sea Of Green
