Back-to-back handicap chase winner last year off lower marks but does appear to be handicapped to the hilt now. Returns from a break now and looks to have a stiff task from a mark of 132 and still 7lb above his last winning mark.
Useful in handicap hurdles but has stepped forward over fences winning both of his starts at Sedgefield and Fakenham (only beat one rival). Usually likes to lead and should be capable of better over fences although the 7lb rise for his last win does seem rather harsh.
In good form last year with three wins in handicaps rising in the weights from 106 to 122 when beating small fields each time (favourite on the last two occasions). His second run back from a break and latest run showed that he could cope with this grade and step-up in trip from a yard that do well here.
Dual handicap hurdles winner who made a successful debut over fences (travelled well) and looked entitled to progress and did so on his last start without looking to pose a winning threat. Runs off a 2lb lower mark here and looks sure to take a hand in the finish.
C&D winner on his latest start gaining his first chase win since August 2015 after running over hurdles at the course on the previous day and cashed-in on a falling mark. Race went ideally for him and he was suited by racing close to a false pace and faces a 9lb higher mark here.
First run for this yard having left Ellmarie Holden after his last win at Down Royal over 2m4f off a mark of 113. May benefit from being fresher than most at this time of the year but not the best of jumpers and faces a stiff task off a mark of this magnitude.
Not quite the force of old having not won since November 2015 and it's taken a long while for the handicapper to drop him. Still looked to need his last run but is edging back down the handicap again now and looks to have been given a chance here at long last.
Been placed here twice but has never won away from his beloved Sedgefield (four-time winner there) and although he finished second here last time out the form doesn't amount to much. Runs from 5lb out of the handicap here and looks to be a little outclassed in this pay grade.

Forecasts
Valseur Du Granval (5/2), The Jazz Singer (7/2), Tangolan (4/1), Eyes Of A Tiger (7/1), Indian Voyage (8/1), Holeinthewall Bar (10/1), Notarfbad (12/1), Muwalla (16/1), Spring Steel (20/1), Swantykay (33/1)
Not too many that are unexposed here although THE JAZZ SINGER and Eyes Of A Tiger look as though they have some more improvement in them. The former ran well at Down Royal last time on only his second start over fences and a repetition of that form will push him close here with the latter still looking progressive if a little harshly treated off this mark over fences. Valseur Du Granval is very much respected given his Uttoxeter run last time out with Indian Voyage given a chance by the handicapper although the same can’t be said of Tangolan who faces a stiff rise in the handicap for a weak win last time out.
- The Jazz Singer
- Valseur Du Granval
- Indian Voyage
