Won a slightly better race than this (7f, good to firm) by ¾L here last week and reappears under a 6lb penalty. Went very close over C&D from 1lb lower last August, so should be capable of going close again.
All four of his wins have been over this trip, two of them on fast ground and he has also made the frame in two of his three races here. A 4lb drop has allowed him to slip into this grade for the first time in almost four years and he could emerge as a serious player.
Scored over C&D some five years ago, but has added seven successes to his CV since then at other venues, including Salisbury last time (5f, good to soft). Goes okay on fast ground, but his nest form is with some cut and a 5lb rise on this ground will probably find him out.
Scored over C&D last season (good) from a 2lb higher mark and acts well on fast ground. Not at his best here last time in a class three event, but the form of his prior run at Thirsk looks solid enough in context and he looks a player back at this level.
Has a couple of 5f wins to his name at this track. Very much a specialist over that trip and, although he has won over 6f, there have been many other fruitless attempts. 1lb lower than when beaten 1½L over 5½f at Brighton last time out, but looks worth taking on over this far.
Has three 7f wins to his name this year, goes well on fast ground and went very close here over that trip from today's mark last time. Drop back on trip not ideal on this fast sprinting track, but should be thereabouts.
Brighton specialist whose last two wins have been over this trip and from 1lb higher than today. Back lurking on a handy mark again, acts well on fast ground and if he handles the track on his first try here then a return to form could be on the cards.
0-13 on turf, with all his best form being on artificial surfaces. Should be capable of her return run after a break last time, but hard to recommend in this field.

Forecasts
Highland Acclaim (3/1), Ashpan Sam (3/1), Pettochside (4/1), Tavener (5/1), Farleigh Mac (6/1), Huntsmans Close (7/1), Monumental Man (10/1), Swiss Cross (10/1), Pour La Victoire (14/1), Red Stripes (33/1)
Ashpan Sam is feared give his win here last time, but over this trip things may happen a little too quickly and the suggestion is HUNTSMANS CLOSE. Robert Cowell's gelding races over his optimum trip and the drop into this grade for the first time since 2013 could see him prosper. Highland Acclaim is respected in opposition, while Swiss Cross, Tavener and Farleigh Mac are others who can get competitive.
