A five time winner at this track, including four times over C&D, and just 3lb higher than when beating Steelriver by 1L in March. Tried unsuccessfully over a variety of trips since with the assessor showing little leniency, but undeniably likely to be thereabouts.

Green on his belated debut at Doncaster in May (6f heavy), but that didn't stop him winning and was probably too keen upped to 7f at Chepstow next time. Wide draw not ideal, but perversely if able to get tucked in, this could help him to settle, but it'll take nerves of steel from the champion jockey to wait for the late and all important breaks.

Won a couple of races on the AW for Henry Spiller during the winter, and has maintained her progress since switched to this trainer recording a second C&D success in an apprentices handicap last week (beat Nightingale Flyer). Returns unpenalised and therefore a live contender.

Somewhat of a Southwell specialist with all four career victories coming over 6f on the Fibresand. Has appeared handicapped up to the hilt of late and the visor is added for his Kempton Park debut with others looking much likelier contenders.

Emphatic winner of a 6f Chelmsford maiden almost twelve months ago but only steady enough in handicaps so far. Hasn't emerged at his best this year, but the soft ground excuses him for his latest defeat at Haydock, and he has eased a few pounds for his AW return.

Runner up in a 6f Lingfield claimer for Michael Wigham in March, but shown nothing in four starts for this yard, so little chance in this company.

Ready 2L winner of 5f Doncaster maiden (soft) on her second start last month. Bumped at the start and outclassed in the Listed Land O'Burns Stakes at Ayr subsequently and this looks more realistic; albeit back up in trip to 6f.

Remains 9lb higher than when winning at Wolverhampton (6f) in December and whilst a runner up at Windsor recently, that race wasn't the strongest of contests (classified stakes). Moderate career strike rate of 1 from 16.

Chepstow winner last month (beat Delfie Lane by ¾L) but blew his chance in the stalls at Newbury more latterly. Sports a strong record at this track, admittedly without racing on synthetics for some considerable time. Of interest with his rider removing 3lb from his back.

On a hat-trick having scored at Windsor (6f) and Newbury (5f). Escapes a penalty for last week's ready success (apprentices handicap) and this consistent sort has been incredibly well placed by his trainer to win twice and still be raised by just 1lb in the weights. AW debut.

Hackney Road (5/2), Maakaasib (7/2), Madame Bounty (9/2), Alaadel (6/1), Cappananty Con (7/1), Dutiful Son (12/1), Gung Ho Jack (12/1), Fortitude (16/1), Porta Rosa (16/1), Showmethewayavrilo (20/1), Bring On A Spinner (20/1), Fairway To Heaven (33/1)

Verdict

An ultra competitive finale, and this promises to be a race to follow. Very few of the runners can be safely ruled out of contention, and a couple of the horses (Hackney Road and Madame Bounty) are well placed to take advantage of recent successes in apprentices handicaps. The likes of Showmethewaytoavrilo and Dutiful Son command maximum respect over this C&D, whilst any winning three-year-old filly from the stable of Hugo Palmer (Fortitude) should figure on the short-list. However, ALAADEL gave the impression that his best days were ahead of him when winning on debut at Doncaster in May, and assuming Jim Crowley can get him settled and tucked in from a wide draw and the necessary breaks arrive when required is more than capable of going close on his AW debut.
