Finished fifth of 12 at Ayr yesterday, It would be a tough ask for him to win this competitive event so soon after those exertions.

Has crammed a lot of racing into his career and has already won seven times, including twice over C&D in his last four starts. By no means disgraced over slightly shorter at this track last time and has every chance off only 3lb higher than when last successful.

Won three times last season, including once at this track. However, those successes came over 1m 4f and the drop back in trip and long absence since his last run could conspire against him.

In great form and in search of a hat-trick after victories here and at Wetherby on his last two starts. He is 8lb higher than when winning the first of those races, but cannot be dismissed over this longer trip given his current form.

Beat a good yardstick at Chester a couple of starts ago, but not so good on softer ground at the same track last time. A sounder surface should see her in a better light and she is by no means badly handicapped.

Well down the field in a York handicap in June, but bounced right back to his best when winning at Beverley next time. Has to enter calculations off a 3lb higher mark.

Forecasts

Sands Chorus (13/8), Mulligatawny (9/4), Energia Fox (7/1), Magic City (8/1), Icefall (9/1), Sunglider (10/1)

Verdict

SANDS CHORUS seems to love this track and can win again off a fair handicap mark, Magic City is getting on a bit, but remains in great heart and is not discounted despite this higher handicap mark, while bottom weight Sunglider is respected after his Beverley success. Energia Fox could bounce back to form on this better ground.
  1. Sands Chorus
  2. Sunglider
  3. Magic City
