Impressed when winning at Chelmsford over 7f in November, but could finish only seventh of eight at Haydock on his 3yo reappearance last month. A combination of soft ground and lack of peak fitness might have counted against him there and he should be more competitive this time. Stamina to prove, however.
Won at the fifth time of asking when landing a C&D handicap on latest start. Showed a good attitude in a tight finish and has a chance of following up off a 4lb higher mark.
Still looking for his first win after six attempts, but ran well on his handicap debut at Sandown last time and runs of the same mark. Stayed on well that day, so the extra distance of this contest is likely to suit.
Gradually getting his act together and got off the mark on his third outing in a Pontefract maiden last time. That wasn't the greatest of contests, but he runs off a feasible mark on his handicap debut and has to be taken seriously.
Only win in 10 starts came in a Musselburgh juvenile contest, Has run respectably to reach the frame on his last two starts off this mark and can go well again, but looks vulnerable to improvers.
Landed a Newcastle maiden in October and returned from a break to finish a promising second at Doncaster last month. Step up in trip should suit and he should strip fitter, so has to go on the short list.
Forecasts
Cape Coast (7/4), Crushed (9/4), Kilowatt (9/2), High Waves (8/1), Tor (11/1), Romanor (12/1)
High Waves, Tor and Romanor are not dismissed lightly, but the three potential improvers in this are Kilowatt, Cape Coast and CRUSHED. The latter hails from an in-form yard that has been saddling a number of winners in the North this season and is a lightly-raced sort who may have got in lightly.
