100/1 when making his debut as a four-year-old recently in a seller over 5f at Wolverhampton and finishing last. That hardly inspires confidence and his pedigree suggests that this will be a little on the short side.

Form has a progressive nature to it this season with his best run coming last time out at Ripon over 6f when runner-up to Don Valentino who has won again since. Should be effective over 5f although this is his first try at the trip the stiff finish here should be a help and he has a leading chance.

Hood tried for his debut at Carlisle in May when he shaped as if the experience was needed (gave trouble at the start). That was over 7f and he's now given a try over 5f and others make far more appeal.

5/2
Making his first start for this yard having left Gary Moore after a disappointing last run at Wolverhampton over 5f when starting 15/8 favourite. Was an expensive two-year-old who ran a couple of decent races over this trip and it will be no surprise if this yard turn him around.

Now a five-year-old she's only managed two starts so far in her career that are 11 months apart. Neither of those runs both over sprint trips held any promise and she's hard to recommend here.

Two runs so far to her name but the form can only be described as modest with a slight move forward from her debut at Doncaster last time over 6f. Now tries the minimum trip for the first time but her overall level of form leaves something to be desired.

8/1
Makes her seasonal reappearance here after having just one run as a juvenile on the AW at Chelmsford over 6f. Was given a quiet and considerate introduction on that occasion and that run suggested that she should be well worth watching for the future here.

Jeany291

5/1
Form figures that read 32223 either suggest that she has been consistent or that she has been rather disappointing and at the moment the latter is probably true. Back from a break she may be able to convert a chance, but she has been a beaten favourite on her last three starts.

Forecasts

Equiano Springs (4/5), Rapid Ranger (5/2), Jeany (5/1), Flying Foxy (8/1), Hamriyah (14/1), Fille The Force (22/1), Time Continuum (40/1), Quick Monet (66/1)

Verdict

Not a particularly inspiring end to the card but it will give one of the eight a chance to get off the mark. It will be no surprise to see RAPID RANGER step forward on his first run for the O’Meara barn and the feeling is that he’s better than he’s shown so far. Equiano Springs will give him something to think about along with Jeany although this race may see yet another placed effort added to her CV. Of the remainder most will have more chance in low grade handicaps although Flying Foxy may show that she is capable of better in the future after showing some promise last year on her sole start.
  1. Rapid Ranger
  2. Equiano Springs
  3. Jeany
