Owner-bred son of Foxwedge and the fourth foal of a mare who has produced three winners who have been effective from 5f-7f. Stable had a heavily backed winning newcomer here on Saturday, but generally their youngsters have needed a run.

Picked up for 235,000 gns at the breeze-ups and a full brother to a Canadian 1m4f stakes winner. Dam was useful at middle-distances but has produced the useful juvenile Cry Of Freedom. This is his choice from three entries over the next few days with all suggesting he has shown more speed at home than his pedigree might suggest.

From the first crop of US dirt miler Violence and fetched 210,000 gns at the breeze-ups. Half-brother to a dirt winner in the US at around a mile. Sire had his first winner with Quivery here in June. Stable have been slow to get going after an enforced break and their juveniles are just 1-37 here since 2014.

€31,000 purchase and half-brother to a couple of winners who were effective at around 5f-7f and handled AW surfaces. Stable are going through a quiet spell and are 0-20 with this age group in 2017.

€130,000 son of Kodiac out of a dam who was placed on the AW in France. Stable rarely have their horses ready first time out and one to watch for the future.

€600,000 brother to Harbour Watch has been costly to follow so far. His latest effort looks better since the third romped home by 6L next time and he has a nice draw up the middle.
Son of Poet's Voice and related to useful juveniles Lustrous, Ustinov and Melody Of Love. Stable normally operate at a strike rate of over 20 percent with their youngsters but they are uncharacteristically quiet and the stable as a whole are 1-20 for the past four weeks. Holds an entry for next year's Derby.

40,000 gns son of Dark Angel and representing a trainer whose juveniles have had a good year. This looks the toughest of his four entries over the next few days and the yard have found winners harder to come by of late.

Green and reared as the gates went back on his Redcar debut. Kept on well when beaten and likely to have finished much closer than his margin of defeat without that mishap. Stable have a modest 1-37 record with juveniles here since 2014 and this gelding has a poor draw to overcome too.

53,000 gns yearling by Medicean out of a speedily bred dam who was successful over 5f. Rider 1-38 for the yard and stable have been quiet.

Fetched 55,000 gns as a yearling and went for 38,000 gns at the breeze-ups.. Fifth foal and related to three winners who acted on turf and AW surfaces. Stable are 4-112 with turf juveniles and rarely have anything ready first time.

Ninth foal and her eight siblings were all winners. Sire has had a couple of winners from his first crop but it would be a surprise if this one was ready to add to that tally just yet.

Related to three winners. Although there was some improvement last time she appears to be aiming too high here and she looks one for nurseries going forward.

Forecasts

Mutakatif (4/7), Nobleman's Nest (11/2), Jungle Room (7/1), Mearing (10/1), Dazzle Gold (16/1), Bombshell Bay (16/1), Kylie Rules (16/1), Picture No Sound (25/1), Muraadef (25/1), Sandytown (25/1), Wasim (33/1), Sunstorm (40/1), Make Good (50/1), She's Different (66/1), Thundercloud (66/1)

Verdict

Dazzle Gold, Bombshell Bay and Nobleman's Nest are the most likely newcomers to be forward enough for this but all would have to be above average to account for MUTAKATIF. Charlie Hill's youngster has been unlucky to bump into some decent types on both starts and last time he finished ahead of a horse who came home by a wide margin next time. His form is far more impressive than Mearing and he can start to repay his sizeable purchase price by landing this.
  1. Mutakatif
  2. Nobleman's Nest
  3. Dazzle Gold
