Has run to a similar level of form in all four starts, though it proved good enough to win a Brighton maiden (6f, good to firm) last time. Now tries to successfully concede weight all around and follow-up and you couldn't rule him out in what is not a hot contest.
100,000gns yearling and first foal of an unraced half-sister to 1m2f Group Three winner Poet, out of a 1m Listed winning half-sister to 1m1f-1m3f Group Two winner Stagecraft. Lovely pedigree and is an interesting debutante. Market check advised.

Stepped up on his debut when beaten just a neck at Newmarket (6f, good) last time. The form of that race looks decent and with further improvement entirely possible he looks likely to be the one to beat at these weights.

Failed to come on for his debut at this venue when tried at Sandown last time. Now steps up to 6f, which shouldn't be a problem, but already looking the type to more strongly consider in nurseries.

Recent £25,000 breeze-up purchase. Half-brother to a 5f 2yo winner and another over 1m-1m2f. Dam a one-raced full-sister to 5f 2yo Group Three winner Raphane and half-sister to Listed-placed 6f 2yo Nellie Nolan. Stable has had a couple of juvenile turf winners this term and a market check is recommended.

35,000gns Book Two yearling. Half-brother to winners Hidden Rebel (7½f-1m), Brick Lane (7f AW) and Lady Emmuska (Swiss 1m1f). Dam was a triple winner over 7f and full-sister to 7f AW 2yo winner Emeebee. Nice enough pedigree for this top handler of sprinters to work with and whatever happens today he should improve.

Changed hands for $60,000 in March and is a half-brother to three sprint winners in USA, on turf/dirt and AW. Dam is a US 6f-1m½f winner, mainly on turf, and a half-sister to US 1m turf Grade Three winner Corporate Jungle out of US 6f stakes winner. Interesting pedigree, yard's juveniles going well and the market should informative.

Beaten 11L on both starts so far and, although the latter run was an improvement, he doesn't look likely to be challenging here unless he makes a marked step up this time.
€88.000 foal and a daughter of Acclamation. Full-sister to 6f winner Victory Angel (inc at two) and half-sister to six winners, the best three of which won from 5f-1m, one as a juvenile. Dam also placed over 1m at two. Surprisingly, top stable is still awaiting its first juvenile winner on turf this season. Market check suggested.

Popsicle
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: Tom Marquand| T: R Hannon
14/1
60,000gns yearling and first foal of 5f (inc. at two) winning half-sister to Italian 1m/2yo winner/Italian Guineas third Kocna out of a half-sister to 7f 2yo Group One winner Mail The Desert. Stable's turf juveniles statistically better than average this season, so she is likely to show up well on debut.

Forecasts

Grand Koonta (1/2), Golden Salute (6/1), Alaska (7/1), Garden Oasis (8/1), Popsicle (14/1), Perfect Hustler (16/1), Jupiter (25/1), Vegas Boy (33/1), Jazz Affair (33/1), Haven's View (80/1)

Verdict

Notebooks at the ready for this opener, where the market should be informative with regard to expectations for Popsicle, Garden Oasis, Jazz Affair and Perfect Hustler, while both Golden Salute and Jupiter are interesting newcomers. However, the vote goes to GRAND KOONTA, who improved when going close last time and can make his experience count this time.
  1. Grand Koonta
  2. Popsicle
  3. Jazz Affair
