String of duck eggs to his name and appears to have regressed on both turf and A/W since joining current yard. Very hard to enthuse over in present form.

Nearer last than first in two starts this term following a year's absence. Well-handicapped on his best form but more evidence is needed that he is ready to deliver.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-13| J: Connor Beasley| T: R C Guest| OR:  69| D

Winner at Beverley in this grade before upped in class two weeks ago. Yet to prove he can deliver of this mark and a higher draw would have been advantageous.

Jack Nevison25
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-11| J: P Hanagan| T: M Appleby| OR:  67
10/1
10-race maiden making stable debut over a new trip. A higher draw is an advantage on the round mile but jockey booking takes the eye (2-11 record over five years).

Both runs for this yard have been over further and no surprise to see him dropped to his optimum trip for this. On a mark 2lb below that for his last success and a middle draw gives his rider options.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-6| J: R L Moore| T: R Hannon| OR:  72

Made all to land a 6f AW maiden and unplaced in two handicaps since. Previous form makes the step up to a mile risky but you have to respect the trainer's decision. Jockey booking raises optimism as does the draw.

Appeared ready to add to last year's sole success after two solid runs at Musselburgh. Flopped on softer ground last time and could bounce back if getting quicker conditions. Stable took this last year.

Bryght Boy25
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-5| J: Thomas Brown| T: E Walker| OR:  61
15/2
Ran well on seasonal return when holding every chance until lack of a run told in the closing stages. A 2lb drop in the weights and a good looking draw make him one for the shortlist.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-5| J: Nathan Evans(3)| T: Suzzanne France| OR:  61| D
11/1
33/1 winner for this yard at Southwell in April and only other success came there. Has shown he can be effective on turf but profile indicates he is better in lower grade races than this.

Winner at Wetherby in 2016 and shaped well there on her return 11 days ago. Should come on for the run and well enough weighted to earn consideration.

Flood Defence19
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: W Buick| T: C F Wall| OR:  63
5/1
Yet to be disgraced and shaped like a winner-in-waiting from a bad draw at Nottingham (1m, good to soft) last time, running on well once eventually finding daylight to finish second behind Jumira Prince. Obvious claims despite a 2lb rise. Entered Newbury 8:00 on Thursday.

More positive tactics have produced improved efforts and having failed to stay in two of her last three starts he is dropped to a mile. Stable in form and well drawn,

Lakeski11
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-3| J: Aaron Jones(3)| T: S Dixon| OR:  55

Shaped better on handicap debut but still left the impression she may be too high in the weights at present.

Break The Silence17
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-3| J: P Mathers| T: S Dixon| OR:  55

Has looked better now switched to handicaps but two fair efforts at Yarmouth have prompted a rise in the weights and he faces stronger company here.

Verdict

An open race in which last year's winning stable supply Adventureland who will attempt to make all but who would appreciate quicker conditions than forecast. He faces competition for the lead from Size Matters who may find the drop in trip advantageous. Ashwaq carries stamina doubts but represents powerful connections and has dropped to an attractive mark. Bryght Boy should not be long in winning but FLOOD DEFENCE makes more obvious appeal if routed here instead of Newbury on Thursday. The jockey booking signals intent and he looked most unlucky last time when failing to secure a clear run from a poor draw In his absence False Id would be our idea of the winner having looked ready for a return to this trip and now below his last winning mark.
  1. Flood Defence
  2. False Id
  3. Ashwaq
