Won his maiden at Cork and justified favouritism at Navan last time. Trainer has a fine record of 21.04% when combining with this jockey and capable of improving again to keep winning run going.
Finally off the mark last time at Down Royal (1m 4½f, good) having finished second on four previous runs. That was a career-best effort and should be full of confidence down in trip though has to deal with a 7lb hike.
Has run well all three starts this term, winning at Naas over 7f (yielding to soft) on return and going down in second latest at Navan (1m, good to firm). In good heart and holds every chance despite another rise in the ratings.
So You Think colt whose dam is sister to a Japanese Group 1 winner, finished credible third behind Irishcorrespondent on Leopardstown debut (1m, good to yielding) in April. Improved on that to score second time out later the same month at Navan (1m, good) and is one to take very seriously here on handicap debut.
Off the mark at the sixth time of asking in Killarney handicap over 1m (yielding) in May. Game attitude to score there but will likely have to improve again in this smart little line-up.
Winner off a mark of 63 over an extended 1m at Cork (heavy) in early April and ran well over the same C&D subsequently. Disappointed last time out and things have now gone a bit quiet for the yard.
Run well enough at Navan and Leopardstown in previous two outings over this trip but will need to step things up a notch to feature here.
Forecasts
Clongowes (5/2), Gold Spinner (3/1), Apparition (11/2), Gino Severini (11/2), So You Thought (13/2), Veneer Of Charm (9/1), Make It Hurrah (16/1)
A tricky contest despite the small field. So You Thought is very much respected on handicap bow having scored nicely last time at Navan while Gino Severini has run well in each of three starts and continues to progress as such. Clongowes finally ended a run of second-itus last time but will require some more surely off a 7lb rise in this. GOLD SPINNER missed an engagement at Ascot last week but he's looked very smart in winning his previous two starts and should have more to come still. Despite conceding weight in all directions, he can come out on top.
- Gold Spinner
- So You Thought
- Gino Severini
