Veteran who adores Redcar, but also running consistently here throughout the winter, and gradually eased to a winnable mark. His January second to Pickett's Charge is solid form for the grade and his excellent young rider is a major plus.

Missed the 2016 season and has made no impact on either start so far for this yard in 2017. Falling in the weights but needs a revival.

Mainly in good shape since his return to action in early May and had ran three solid enough races until disappointing at Hamilton latest. Yet to win on the AW but seems to handle Tapeta so enters the equation.

Always on the scene, but an infrequent winner. Unable to go past the often difficult to win with Cliff at Ripon last week (6F), but clearly in decent order and a regular at this track, but with slight question marks over this trip.

Has won twice at Southwell during his career (both over a mile) and as such is a frequent Fibresand racer. Yet to race on Tapeta at Newcastle having raced just twice (moderately) since March 2016.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-5| J: S H James| T: J J Davies| OR:  50

Eleven race maiden who appears to be regressive, and wasn't able to beat a single rival at Thirsk (7F good) in April.

Seven race maiden and neither the visor (discarded) or the step up in trip appeared to suit at Catterick last month. Back to basics now and down in trip to 1m as he falls steadily in the weights and that looks a reasonable policy.

Her full sister Working Together runs in the opener, and this filly won a 7F Wolverhampton nursery in November 2015 from a 3lb higher mark, but has been unable to recapture that form since a ten month break. Wears first time blinkers.

No showing at three figure odds in three maidens to date. Difficult to assess whether or not she's well treated from this opening mark, but is a half-sister to four winners in France.

21 race maiden who was a regular at this track over the winter. Switched to turf more recently and showing very small signs of improvement, but whether this trip is ideal is questionable.

His trainer is yet to get to the bottom of this horse, but he's shown some glimmers of form and could be attractively weighted from this mark. The tinkering with various bits (gelded this year) continues with a visor and tongue tie added for the first time, and this is a weak race so this might well be his day.

Beat Chaucer's Tale by a head in a 7F maiden here in November, but that race took little winning and she has struggled back in handicaps since. Worth another go at this trip on the strength of her latest Musselburgh sixth to Clear As A Bell.

Coral Princess12
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: Jason Hart| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  50

Six race maiden who qualified for a basement mark after three quick runs here in February and March. Excuses for her latest Musselburgh run, and dropped another 1lb switching back to the AW for the first time since going handicapping.

Circuitt151
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: Nathan Evans(3)| T: W Storey| OR:  47

No form whatsoever in four starts for Mick Quinn. Her new stable have saddled a couple of big priced winners already here on Tapeta and the tongue tie is added as some signs of ability are sought.

Forecasts

Broctune Papa Gio (9/2), State Residence (11/2), Cool Strutter (7/1), Peny Arcade (15/2), Belisa (8/1), Sakhalin Star (8/1), Steel Helmet (12/1), Eium Mac (14/1), Coral Princess (14/1), Jessie Allan (20/1), Cline (20/1), Rock Of Monaco (25/1), Circuit (50/1), Saxon Gold (50/1)

Verdict

Much like Division One, there's not too much to get excited about in this low grade mile handicap. Top-weight Broctune Papa Gio has been a grand servant to the Reveley's and doubtless nothing would give Gillian Boanas greater pleasure than too see this veteran get his head back in front. He's fully respected, but a chance is taken on STATE RESIDENCE. His trainer has yet to fathom him out, but will doubtless get a race or two from him at some point, so he's a speculative play with the visor and tongue tie added for the first time.
  1. State Residence
  2. Sakhalin Star
  3. Broctune Papa Gio
