Twice a winner over this trip last year and, following success in the novice hurdling ranks, he has returned to the Flat in good form, again winning over this trip at Windsor (good to firm) recently. Raised 3lb but should remain competitive.

Has won 3 from 29 for a variety of trainers, his most recent success coming on the AW over this trip a year ago. Not disgraced when beaten just over 5L behind Burguillos at Leicester (1m2f, good to firm) latest and has been dropped 2lb.

Enjoying a good season, having won races at Doncaster (good to soft) and Sandown (good to firm) over this trip. Ran as well as ever when chasing home Gulf of Poets in a decent race at Haydock last time and unlikely to be far away.

Lightly-raced for Luca Cumani but made a pleasing reappearance when second of 14 over an extended 1m at Nottingham. Fancied to go one better there next time over this trip but raced too keenly. Interesting to see how he fares for a new yard here.

Game and consistent dual-purpose performer who won twice over 1m at Sandown last summer before struggling off an 8lb higher mark on his final Flat start. Has improved to win three hurdle races since however, so worth a look on his reappearance.

Made a winning debut for this yard over 1m2f on the AW in late 2015 but the handicapper seemed to have his measure all of last season, including when tried in first-time blinkers. Eased in the handicap for his return but may need the run.

Boasts six wins on his CV up to 1m but drew a blank on the AW over the winter and hasn't cut much ice in three recent runs on turf. Mark is beginning to plummet however, and this longer trip is worth a try.

Promise shown in both starts prior to opening his account in a 1m1f maiden at Lingfield (good to firm) earlier this month when getting the better of Asaas by just over 1L. Likely there is more to come over this longer trip but opening mark doesn't look easy.

Won a Wolverhampton maiden on his second start and ran well on his handicap debut when just touched off over 1m at Kempton. Well below that form at Chelmsford since though, and plenty to prove on his turf debut over a longer trip.

Plenty of promise in both runs prior to opening his account in first-time cheekpieces on soft ground over 1m1f at Carlisle last time out. Profile suggests he's open to plenty of improvement and it would be no surprise to see him defy this opening handicap mark.

Won a Newcastle maiden over this trip in January but has found life much tougher since going handicapping, finishing last of eight at Haydock (1m2f, soft) last time, though only beaten 5L. Dropped 2lb but still more needed.

Forecasts

Pilgrim's Treasure (11/4), Sporting Times (7/2), Wannabe Friends (6/1), Hollywood Road (8/1), Boycie (10/1), Reaver (10/1), Makaarim (11/1), Doctor Bartolo (12/1), Ladurelli (16/1), Cricklewood Green (22/1), Unison (25/1), Buzz (25/1), Primogeniture (33/1)

Verdict

Boycie has already won twice this season and merits close inspection after another fine effort in defeat at Haydock but if there is a blot on the handicap here it's likely to come in the shape of Sporting Times or PILGRIM'S TREASURE who each won in maiden company last time out. A credible case could be made out for either but the latter makes marginally more appeal on the basis that the introduction of cheekpieces seemed to improve him dramatically last time and could be the key to him fulfilling his potential.
  1. Pilgrim's Treasure
  2. Sporting Times
  3. Boycie
